OSI Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:OSIS), a vertically-integrated provider of
specialized electronic products for critical applications in the
Security and Healthcare industries, announced today that it has expanded
its patient monitoring product portfolio with the launch of the MCare
300 low acuity patient monitor.
The MCare 300 is a stand alone low acuity patient monitor as compared to
the Company’s successful UltraviewSL patient
monitor product line which is fully networked within the hospital's IT
infrastructure. The MCare 300 can be customized to meet the customers’
specifications for patient parameters to be monitored. Standard
configuration includes 3 and 5 lead electrocardiogram (“ECG”),
respiration, SPO2, temperature and non-invasive blood pressure
monitoring. The monitor utilizes the same touch screen interface as the
UltraviewSL product line and is equipped with internal default alarms
that can be configured for adult, pediatric and neonatal patients.
The product is ideally suited for day surgery centers and also
traditional hospitals where it could be used as a step down unit
bridging the gap between their high-end networked monitoring systems and
stand alone monitoring. The monitor will be available in nineteen
languages and distributed internationally through the Company’s
distributors and direct sales force. Distribution within the U.S.
follows receipt earlier of 510(k) approval from the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration (“FDA”)
permitting the MCare 300 to be distributed in the United States market.
Deepak Chopra, OSI Systems’ CEO, stated, “The
launch of the new MCare 300 low acuity patient monitor is an important
step in growing our patient monitoring business internationally,
especially in the emerging markets of India and China. The product was
designed and developed to specifically address the opportunity in the
growing day surgery center market while also enabling us to provide a
stand alone patient monitor to our traditional customer base. While the
day surgery center market is a new market for us, we intend to utilize
our strong global brand recognition and extensive international
distribution channels to make the launch a success.”
