The Japanese yen weakened against the other major currencies in the Asian session on Monday.
The yen edged down to 186.93 against the pound and 121.62 against the Swiss franc, from early highs of 186.49 and 186.49, respectively. The yen closed Friday's deals at 186.64 against the pound and 121.37 against the Swiss franc.
Pulling away from an early high of 146.27 against the euro, the yen fell to 146.33.
Against the U.S. and Canadian dollars, the yen edged down to 119.54 and 103.03 from early highs of 119.30 and 102.76, respectively. At last week's close, the yen was trading at 119.45 against the greenback and 102.91 against the loonie.
If the yen extends its downtrend, it is likely to find support around 189.80 against the pound, 123.58 against the Swiss franc, 149.00 against the euro, 121.20 against the greenback and 104.95 against the loonie.
