SuffersNoFools I agree with everything you say, think what you are saying is the mirror to my view.I believe charts reflect sentiment over time where as you believe sentiment is reflect as result of the charts. It's very much trader vs investor viewpoints. Don't think either are wrong I just believe in investing.

No probs - I have a foot in both camps, I hold coins long term and trade them via SB.

IMO - Charts provide the whole picture, news is just a subset of that whole picture, that drives the ultimate determinant of price action - sentiment.

If news drove the price then BCH and LTC would have leapt on the below Robinhood news, but they didn't because sentiment to the sector was bearish. That I believe is now changing, and we are ending the downtrend that began in January.

I disagree. News drives the markets. Traders trade the ups and downs, investors see long term trends driven by news. If your a trader and you rely on charts and floors and ceilings in price volatility then that is entirely up to you. But if you take a long term view the daily, weekly and even monthly ebs and flow have no consciquence with long term progress. That's my view. So yes in a nut she'll you can trade on news if you take a long term approach.Like I said before, each to their own.In a way all is working on the same revolving cycle.Short term news drives the ups and downs with traders moving within chart indicators creating the market; the market then reflects mid term value over time. This in tern displays long term value and trends which are reflected in the newsflow/policies/investments.If you choose to be a trader that's fine but I'd much rather invest for long term and identify trends relating to human behaviour.Hope this is mot taken the wrong way, I'm always happy with a friendly debate!

Charts or news flow; each to their own. I know what works for me.

Finding news to fit the price action. It's just a breakout above the key 6800 level sucking in traders and squeezing the shorts. Next key level is 7650 - if that goes expect 8000 within an hour.

Coinbase attained license to use some Crypto currencies as securities. (This is a big step forward for cryptomarkets)Also, Blackrock are preparing to enter the market. Momentum is point upwards with some authorities showing positive signs on regulating cryptocurrencies. They're coming to the conclusion that cryptocurrencies are here to stay, so assimilate or be left behind.

something to do with coinbase and securities. I've really not been following cryptos at all but on twitter saw some chatter with those references so a web search might yield some results.

Another junction point? On a break below support : 5K- BTC in seconds is most likely ... but to be short on anything but a breakdown is staring into the face of a potentially powerful rally from support.

Also I imagine they might be taking into account of the holiday week in the US. Slim proper financial markets and also trying to get the normal person talking about a recovery. However also easy profit taking for the good traders. Personally cryptos are a no go during the summer as I can't justify the time wasted being by a computer at all hours, whilst in the winter one can track movements regularly without being put out at all.

Crypto is inferior to every banking / financial capability I have right now - as in slower and more expensive. Though I don't need to launder money so I don't cover every conceivable use case.

Whilst RUT and QQQ still make new ATH every other index is under pressure. Crypto has only been alive during a long bull market, and with the only real correction in 2011 its mettle tested since the concept entered the wider public consciousness.

tpaul - It's the general ignorance of what crypto is and will become by the uneducated masses like yourself that will ensure it has a bright future ;)

McB - Above 6850 and I think it starts to look a little more bullish....

i still stop amazed, that someone would buy a bitcoin for 4 figures, let alone 4 or 5 of them! rejoice woken netizens of the future, your digital cup overfloweth :P

blockchain/DLT theory and its first digi-token bitcoin have been around a decade now, its main accolades have been making some nerds and criminals rich and polluting the planet, satoshi wept!
