The Bitcoin White Paper - yes a while ago.

I know that the Bitcoin mempool is a massive bottleneck and goes against the idea of quick and cheap transactions, but in 2018 there are many better alt-coins than Bitcoin or even Bitcoin Cash to transact in.

These days the major interest of investors appears to be in the speculative value of a coin rather than its utility to transact.

Part of me thinks that the whole lot including Bitcoin is worthless. But I keep thinking that if I was after a digital gold replacement then if there is only one to choose then Bitcoin is it.

(Sadly I don't hold any Bitcoin Cash so I could be justifying myself! lol)

What is the point of posting random strings of numbers in both higher and lower directions of current prices. Then having a caveat of a +-20% error?

Some people.

Ive actually seen Ripple described as a NEW Crypto currency in the press.

So much ignorance in this space. I actually saw a female fund manager bragging about how she was the only one, or first to have bought XBTC something like that. I thought oh she seems smart. She accurately described why there was a premium, lovely I was thinking.

Then she went and said Bitcoin is a store of value and can never be a means of exchange because there aren't enough of them.

So after years of holding she hasn't even thought to ask if Bitcoin is divisible.

It beggars belief.

If ripple is a payment system which it is trying to be then its worth about 20 billion max, which is more than western union so I'm being generous. Also worth noting is NO LIMIT to the number of tokens than may be issued although 100 billion with 50 billion held by Ripple corp is suggested. Edit the founders "awarded" themselves with 9 Biilion XRP per head, nice.

Ive never liked Ripple Labs, they don't strike me as particularly virtuous, very underhand to be honest. Dont they have one of the ex MTGox boys running the show? yes they do? LOL

Anyway the good news is comes when this latest pump unwinds, every 10 cent ripple concedes Bitcoin would gain $220 assuming thats where the money eventually flows.

Ripple Labs proprietors of nothing but the most expensive pointless cenralised database in the World.

Raiblocks might make some headway if the block-lattice concept can be shown to work.

It depends what you mean by "final".

Bitcoin has huge first mover advantage but I don't think it'll be the final coin of choice.

All non-decentralised altcoins are just monopoly money and will be recognised as valueless when the herd wakes up to the importance of this attribute.

"Altcoins being pumped in rotation is likely a product of the institutional investment phase. It's likely not anywhere near over and will continue until an attack happens on a coin that makes people realize the power of $BTC. Until then, it's just all about chasing returns." @parabolictrav 3/1/18

Naval Ravikant tells home truths here:

The Express FUD article in post 3542: "Bitcoin is feeling the pressure..." ROFLMAO

It's the alts that have to prove something, not Bitcoin. So far very few have demonstrated any practical utility. Even some that looked promising such as Iota, if not fatally discredited, have shown signs of potential flaws:

Interesting take on the topical issue of dominance (written 8 months ago):

In this general context, IIRC only about 37.5% of XRP tokens have been issued. Therefore the implied market cap of Ripple is currently about the same as BTC. LOL
