02/11/2017 15:43 | SPADman - Unless you can afford the risk of giving back substantial gains in the short term, it's a brave call to hold on through the forthcoming 2x turbulence. If the 2x movement crumbles at the 11th hour (too many egos on the line I think) it could catapult 1BTC towards DOW. Richard Heart is confident of $20000 by Christmas. Ryan X Charles has switched all his BTC into BCH. He is beginning to repeat himself and look a bit stressed in his vlogs. Simon Dixon is not a bit worried about the fork and is expecting many more of them in 2018, though he avoided spelling out what he expected to happen around the time of the fork in his recent interview with Adam Meister. As an aside, I thought SD's commentary on digital banking [from about 42:15mins into the vlog] was very interesting: I am expecting a scenario where a dip comes on the eve of 2x as the speculative money departs. Why hang on for the 2x altcoin if it's only going to be worth about 15% of BTC (according to futures markets) when the BTC market can dip at least that far in quick time? | compoundup

02/11/2017 13:03 | Bitstamp. Also v.liquid and easy to trade. I just prefer to keep BTC in a hardware wallet. Only downside is the risk of missing out when there is a fast moving market like this morning. | compoundup
02/11/2017 12:43 | which exchange compound? bitfinex is very liquid and easy to trade. | mcbeanburger
02/11/2017 12:37 | Couldn't get onto the exchange quickly enough when it was going parabolic. Even though the 3 confirmations were within 30 minutes, I missed the blow off. Will probably sell some more into strength between now and 2X as I have no wish to be heavily exposed to that. I think there could be buying opportunities in the $3000 to $5000 range later this month. | compoundup

01/11/2017 10:35 | oh no here come the suits, theyre only going to manipulate the price down as they have with goweld! Bitcoin surpassed $6,500 on Wednesday to hit a new record high after the CME announced plans to launch bitcoin futures later this year. The price of the cryptocurrency hit a high of $6,550.14 just hours after breaking through the $6,400 barrier, according to data from industry website CoinDesk. Its market capitalization, or the total value of bitcoin in circulation, hit $109 billion. On Tuesday, U.S.-based exchange CME said it would introduce bitcoin futures contracts this quarter, subject to regulatory approval. "We've been working with the regulator. They understand our application. And they understand our model very, very well," Terry Duffy, CME Group chairman and CEO, told CNBC. The introduction of such a product could bring more institutional investors into the market. It's believed that this is helping to boost the price. The bitcoin futures contract will be cash-settled and based on the CME CF Bitcoin Reference Rate (BRR), which CME launched in November 2016 with London-based digital trading platform Crypto Facilities. The reference rate is a daily settlement price published at 4 p.m. London time, currently noon ET. | tpaulbeaumont |
