Have a look at the past RNS releases. You will see that Mears is involved in a joint venture fitting solar panels with at least one housing association.

Cheers,
Steve.

Hi, I'm new to this company as an investor and was wondering if Mears would benefit from the green deal proposals currently under discussion.

Big chunk of money available for accredited advice and installers which Mears could hop on to.

This is holding up well considering councils are begining to revue service providers, the severe council cutbacks now mean some are starting to look at smaller cheaper contractors who can provide a similar level of service at a 20% premium. I don't hold this stock but I am looking to short if the momoent is right.

Bob Holt is 56. You could not blame him if he wanted to spend some of it.

so perhaps we should take a leaf out of Bob Holt's book and top slice

not sure that a £650k increase in operating profit on turnover growth of £40 million can be construed as "great"

Great results, I believe the order book and constant stream of positive news has been overlooked so far by the markets and Mears has been sliced down with the rest of the sector.

Yeah all very positive here, i reckon MER's quality and defensive characteristics are looking appealing in today's choppy markets. Going XD last week hasn't dented the continuation of the rise here either. Slow and steady as it goes i reckon so am looking for 300 this autumn and 340 early 2012/next spring if the current established chart pattern plays out. Maybe get an extra push on if we get some further good contract news too - and there's a big market out there to play for for MER.

Mears are not in the residential care business, but it's been a week of very bad p.r. in that sector and the knock-on effect could be enough to have reversed the spike in Mears' share price.

Well whatever triggered the rise didn't happen. Back down again. Where to next ?

I agree its odd.
If I knew what triggered it I would not have closed 2 long positions last week!

Anybody understand why the big jump ? I have held for some time and don't understand why we get such violent fluctuations on what seems to be a stable well managed company. It has always looked a good long term investment.

Good bit of press today:

"...now trades on a forward earnings multiple of 7.2 on the estimates for 2012, a discount to both its support services and its contracting peers. Based on this lowly valuation and in light of the recent strong momentum, we think that Mears is worth a punt, particularly as it is likely to benefit from further distress among weaker rivals."

Yeah Daz, nice and solid here as ever from MER. Quality like this should be rated higher imv. Nice chart continuation pattern up from here i reckon.

Looks like steady as you go, 93% of this years revenue in the bag, you used to have to pay a premium for this kind of visibility of earnings.
