BooHoo in tears as sales slump and losses of £160 million...

Guy Lawson-Johns, an equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, said: “Boohoo’s full-year results were a painful read for investors. Revenue declined at high double-digit rates across all regions, including 18% in the US, which is seen as the group’s pathway to major growth.

“For now, it remains a struggling company with a tarnished reputation, reflected in the group’s valuation, which has come down significantly over the last few years.”

90 new jobs for Bakkavor quite a boost and the good news for Marks keeps going on. A number of large conglomerates or even private equity will be kicking themselves they didn't make an offer for Marks when the share price was as low as 70p ish.

Too late now if an offer came in Marks would fight it off.

A salad processing factory is expanding with a jobs boost after securing a deal with Marks and Spencer.

Bakkavor Salads Tilmanstone has announced it is recruiting 90 new staff at its site near Dover after agreeing to supply the supermarket chain.

The recruitment drive during the spring follows the growth of Bakkavor and the launch of seven new side products for the M&S Dinner Tonight meal deal range.

M&S store to close for bakery and wine shop makeover


An M&S store will close for a huge makeover, creating a bakery, wine shop and more.

The Newton Mearns supermarket will shut its doors on June 15, to transform into a fresh-market-style food hall.

The refurbishment will create a new bakery, wine shop, flower shop, new click & collect facilities, cheese barge and more.

Customers will be able to enjoy all the new features after the reopening later in the summer.

The investment is part of M&S’ plan to invest £30 million in stores across Scotland.

SAINSBURYS eying £1 billion profits as it's price match against both ALDI and LIDL bears fruit...



I must say Taste The Difference are excellent profits but dearer than the equivalent premium products from both ALDI and LIDL.

However the German retailers are massive companies and will fight back for market share imo.

As for MARKS well they did achieve 1 billion profits decades ago and would not be surprised if they did so again in less than a decade, maybe in sooner in 5 years time.

Ocado fastest growing grocery supermarket in last 12 week period as grocery inflation slows.

Asda lagging behind and so is ALDI.



With the UK supermarkets getting ever more competitive with "price match" it isn't surprising ALDI has lost some market share, however it could be a blip among the group.

Jefferies upgraded its stance on a host of UK retail stocks on Monday, with Marks & Spencer, Next and Sainsbury's all upgraded to 'buy' from 'hold'.

On M&S, for which it has a 310.0p price target, Jefferies said it thinks the company is now a far stronger business than was historically the case, with its newfound strength built on an expansion of its food offering, which was "clearly resonating strongly".

I am not surprised at the upgrade MARKS other brands must be making a significant contribution to sales and profits and MKS own brands must eb doing well the fashion has improved significantly as seen in TV and other media outlers.
