River and Mercantile Group PLC ("the Company") announces the appointment of a new Chairman

River and Mercantile Group PLC ("the Company") is pleased to announce that Jonathan Dawson will be appointed Chairman of the Company, and will join the Board as a Director, with effect from 1 October 2017. Jonathan will join the Remuneration and Nomination Committees of the Board.

Peter Warry, the current Acting Chairman, will step down as acting chairman and will resume his role as Senior Independent Director of the Board. As part of his long standing retirement plan, Peter intends to retire from the Board at the end of October.

Jonathan started his career in the Ministry of Defence before joining Lazard, the investment bank, where he spent over 20 years. He left Lazard in 2005 and cofounded Penfida Limited, the leading independent corporate finance advisor to pension fund trustees.

Jonathan currently serves as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee of National Grid plc and Senior Independent Director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc. Jonathan is the Chairman of Penfida Limited.

Jonathan previously served on the board of Next plc as Senior Independent Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee.
