LONDON--Cable & Wireless Communications PLC (CWC.LN) Friday said Chief Executive Officer Phil Bentley will step down from his role with effect from May 16, when the recommended takeover of the company by Liberty Global PLC Liberty Global PLC (LBTYB) will be complete.

Shares closed at 74.60 pence valuing the company at 3.3 billion pounds ($4.83 billion).
