Yes, I keep buying small quantities each month including today as I believe over time lots of small long term (historic) holders will capitulate and the valuation may then pick up assuming mgt show that business is stable. At sub £3m mcap there is lots of value here for the patient investor.

Yep awfully illiquid and unlikely to change unless one of the major holders decides to reduce their holdings although history would indicate this is unlikely.Next results in January which should provide some clarity as to future prospects. I would encourage investors now to think about attending the AGM next year to demonstrate to the Board that they should engage with retail investors. It's a two way street.

On closer inspection here this morning I can see value of around 7p so have bought a few. Will try to attend the AGM in March and look forward to seeing some other investors there?

Here is an email I received from Beverley @Aukett this morning. I'm sure she wouldn't mind me posting this. I would be gobsmacked if a profits warning was issued.

Thank you for your email and interest in our Group.

I can appreciate the downwards trend in the share price is disappointing. The recent director sales have been due to personal circumstances and do not bear any relation to their view of the Company. In one instance the sales were taken up by other Directors, in the other Broadwalk Asset Management, one of our institutional investors took the opportunity to add to their holding with an extra 2.7m shares on the 8th September.

In relation to news on contracts and existing projects much of this is covered through our main website under the projects or news sections.

Whilst I cannot confirm an exact date, I would expect to issue an update in November, ahead of our final results publication in January.

Kind regards,
Beverley

An RNS would be required to announce any change in shareholding, where the owner has more than 3%, whether it is a buy or sell and whether that owner is a current or former director/employee, a private or corporate investor or a nominee. The company cannot release this until the shareholder reports the transaction to them which is supposed to occur within 3 trading sessions.

An overseas domiciled investor cannot be compelled to report this information so unless Blakes holding is held in an overseas nominee account, he has a legal obligation to report any change in his shareholding to AUK and they then have an obligation to release an RNS.

I think this is could be our seller

J Blake...........an employee of the company....13,030,638---------9%

I didnt spot an RNS stating that he had left the company but I am not sure of the rules regarding the position of an ex director selling a 9% stake...if that is his intention.I assume that if he is an ex director then an RNS would only be required as if he was an ordinary investor.

Thank you MM. Much appreciated. I look forward to their comments on future prospects, given all the current uncertainty in the market. I wonder if some of those sales are folks comcerned about recent announcement on that old nugget called tax. Since this share has risen from 3p to near 19p at one point in such a short time, this type of share price movement should be expected, I suppose. So be it.

hvs....your commemt may have been a little more relevant on another thread me thinks, possibly SMC perhaps? I worked in banking when they were buying Estate Agents and even us little folk could see it was a mistake. At least AUK appear to stick to their onions. Interesting wee point is that their annual results hard copy was also translated into Russian. Investors over there or maybe just keeping the authorities happy? I found that very unusual for this size of company.

Yes Silver..its how you measure it.Often the tax position of these companies are not always clear so although strictly not the correct (OFFICIAL and UNABRIDGED) version of calculating p/e is as Masure says, the rough and ready measure that many investors use is the simple one I espouse to. Anyway, as I am tired of explaining my reasoning to Masure (and many others reasoning) I wont labour it.Suffice to say I will continue to state my P/E calculation using MY preferred measurement and the interprutation is just the same on a different level.I had not thought of using curry nights to calculate the divi but I see exactly where you are comming from...I wish others could do the same.Regards.

The company's reputation has been slightly tarnished through association. In my mind they made the correct decision by walking away from the acquisition, but, with the problems in this sector last year, investors are wary.

One to sit on until results - then, your patience will be rewarded.

SMC (down 22% this morning) seem to be sliding down the proverbial plughole ! AUK has dropped by circa 20% since the merger discussions were revealed in July.

If AUK does come in with a PTP of circa £2.3m for the year just ending then they will be on a modest historical PE of around 11. With no debt, and cash in the bank, they should command a PE ratio in the region of at least 16 and a current share price of around 19p/20p instead of languishing below 13p where they are now. In my view this is due to all of the future uncertainty emanating from the SMC discussions.

AUK is a solid business with good growth prospects of its own. Without some kind of merger/takeover deal there is a fair chance that SMC could go into administration. If that were to happen then AUK would be in a position to cherry pick assets, contracts and key staff at knock down prices without taking on any other known or unknown liabilities. If SMC survive then they will remain in financial difficulty for some time and will be less competitive with someone like AUK on new business pitches.

If AUK were to walk away from these merger discussions then I certainly would come off the sidelines and reinvest, since I believe that the share price would very quickly recover with a short term upside of at least 30%. In this situation other investors would also probably have greater confidence in AUK's longer term prospects. Some clear projections for next year could then be produced without any of the uncertainties that would result from an SMC merger to cloud the whole picture.
