A stock’s price is said to breakout when its price goes above the previous high or previous low of a certain time period.
For instance, if a stock’s highest price over the last 12 months was 100, but today it hit 105 we would call that a breakout. The stock would appear in the 1 Year Price Breakouts Up toplist.
In another example, a stock’s lowest price over the last 6 months might have been 40. If the stock price goes lower than 40 today we would call that a breakout. The stock would appear in the 6 Months Price Breakouts Down toplist.
You can use the breakout tool to display a breakout in price movement, trading volume, or average trading volume. The default setting is price movement.
You can set the time period you are most interested in. The periods you can choose range from one week up to 5 years. The toplist will then analyse high and low prices, trading volume and average volume from that time period. The default setting is set to one year.
