I have found when The Sunday Times last(?) recommended NEX
Sun 04 September 2022 17:14

"The Sunday Times's Lucy Tobin said readers should buy shares of National Express, arguing that Britons were still intent on exploring new places, the looming recession notwithstanding, although they would be looking for cheaper ways to go about doing that.

An economic downturn could see demand for bus and coach seats "surge", the tipster added, further noting the recent rail strikes.

To back up her claim, she cited RBC analyst, Ruairi Cullinane, who was predicting that the company would prove "resilient" against the weaker macro backdrop.

The RBC analyst had also recently flagged how the UK bus sector was set to benefit from "policy and demographics looking more favourable than in the decade following the financial crisis".

Sharp rises in staffing costs and fuel mean that it wouldn't be a smooth ride for investors, she conceded.

As well, 80% of revenues were generated overseas, mostly from the US, so it would be wrong to overemphasise the British unit of the business.

But the shares had already been battered, having fallen from 423.0p in February 2020 before the advent of Covid-19 and had come off by over a third year-to-date.

"The shares look reasonable value, changing hands at about 9 times forecast earnings for 2023, below a 10-year average of 11," she said. "

So I think we can safely say after her "burned fingers" she isn't going to recomend the share again.

I was actually looking for an article I saw in the last few days mentioning American interest in the shares - some time ago.

Then it dawned on me the groundhogging post 2pm sell offs might e coming from our former colonies ?

@Wally
Stocks do often fall on sentiment alone, the fundamentals as far as we know haven't changed! Obviously the current environment for companies refinancing debt has become unfavourable, however, with all this being taken into consideration, the share price now being lower than in the midst of Covid when we had no vaccines and no end in sight as to when operators would be able to re initiate their operations is absolutely absurd. Furthermore, the current situation with train drivers, indicats a long battle ahead (they have just been re balloted), this plays favourably for NEX. I, personally, will no sell a single share below a range of 180-190. I'm also invested heavily here, 1/3rd of my portfolio to be precise! Investing in individual stocks is not for the weak minded, we must remain strong and not be guided by emotions! The company last trading statement was positive, that's all we know so far, to try and guess the reasons why the share price is down without further information is a mug's game. The other thing we do know is that international investors see the UK as a basket case, this whislt negative, means its not a company specific issue! These are my reasons for holding NEX and possibly adding more on pay day!

This almost needs an activist investor or one of the main shareholders to start making some noises, and I agree about IR being useless, not a single update for 6 months from October last year to March FY results.
Not good enough and no wonder it allows shorts and mms so much time to sew fear and drip down the share price

Well technically the share price has broken support. And because the share price is at a all time low, there's no further support. So you can understand that there's a few nervous investors about. Let's hope this turns soon.

The name change is to separate the company from their UK coach brand. You only need to read the posts on here and you see that the company image is closely tied to this brand. When bidding on new US and Alsa contracts does the company want to appear to be an international company or a niche UK coach operator? If they were to list on another exchange, which do they want investors to believe?

Does look like a bottom has been hammered in. Would like to see a close above 145p over the coming sessions, then more investors will arrive as a new uptrend is established.

Well if JP Morgan and the Manchester pension fund have been reducing the price has been holding up pretty well whilst allowing investors to grab more around this price. I've taken more below 120p recently. Question is, who's been buying all those shares. It won't be just PIs.

Won't be long until the downtrend is broken and that will attract more investors.
