Home Entertainment Corporation - pre-close trading update

WEDNESDAY, 17 December 2003 -- The interim trading period of Home Entertainment
Corporation PLC ended on Saturday, 13 December 2003.

The effect of the unprecedented hot weather continued much longer than the
company anticipated and this is reflected in the performance for the first 20
weeks of the interim period.

Trading for the last 8 weeks of the period has been up to expectations and is
broadly comparable to the previous year, buoyed by particularly strong releases
on DVD, but has not made up the revenues lost during the summer.

The company will announce interim results on Tuesday, 27 January 2003.
