unprecedented news that the company will help bring higher
education even higher at Texas A&M
University by partnering with the University to create
TAMU-SPIRIT, a private flight facility on the International Space
Station (ISS) dedicated to university research.
TAMU-SPIRIT, which stands for Texas
A&M / Aegis Aerospace Multi-Use Space Platform
Integrating Research & Innovative Technology, will be a
dedicated facility for activities such as in-space research,
testing, advanced materials manufacturing, robotics testing, space
surveillance and tracking technologies.

Aegis Aerospace will own and operate the TAMU-SPIRIT test
facility, and there will be an open call for experiments every six
months for students, faculty and other researchers within the
Texas A&M University System.
Students and faculty will also partner in the on-going operations
process.
The design for the TAMU-SPIRIT flight facility will be based on
Aegis Aerospace's MISSE Flight Facility, the busiest permanent
commercial flight facility on the ISS, with operations to start as
early as 2027.
