It sounds as though £9m is the price for securing the required IP that will enable them to scale up production of the liquid paper board product and which may allow that technology to develop more widely into other product areas (i.e not just cartons). Though did he say polar would be the first product application?

Different tech, but for the same end markets. An alliance that is not costing the chinese any hard cash.I am hopeful for some new products etc,but as the CFO said,it won't be that soon.

Sounds like it's a different product made up of 2 gases rather than 1. My guess is that with Zoteforms extensive market knowledge, is that they have known customers/markets they can sell this into imo.All sounds very positive and something else it looks like it's trying to fund from existing main line cash generation. All extremely positive imo.

Listening to that,it sounds like the chinese have a superior type of offering which ZTF can utilse with their expertise, albeit at a cost. These are global markets and the chinese are very competitive and cheap...ish.All happening here.

Think you have to trust the company here. They obviously know what he has developed and I would imagine there re sales conditions and a payback from the technology in either new product, reduced cost, adding a esg element that results in better product versus competitors. I’d be worried if the IP was going the other way.

"Zotefoams will pay technology licensing fees of RMB 80million (approx. £9m, including capitalised deal costs*) over the 5-year term of the agreement"

It does seem to be a strange move given that they are well advanced in the development of a liquids carton that has the potential to transform the business.

Not sure that I would share my IP with a Chinese operation. On the face of it Ztf is 'buying' IP from the Chinese?? We have no idea of the addressable market or the lomg-term benefits for Ztf.
