Literally no analyst is saying this is a spike. Demand is long set to outstrip supply for at least a decade.

I doubt it, hardly a spike, more of a recovery from the placing induced low.
There's plenty of hydrogen in the world but the availability of green hydrogen as an available fuel source is still limited. The same applies here with regards to the availability of battery grade lithium.

How high could lithium prices go?I am a holder here but it is worth being realistic about prices. There is no shortage of lithium in the world so the recent rise could end up as a spike, whilst production struggles to meet demand.I remember computer memory chips seeing a similar surge: again, no shortage of sand (silicon) in the world

How high could lithium prices go?

Obviously very much higher than investors currently think. There are few boundaries until something unexpected happens in electro-chemistry - and that's looking very unlikely for years.

The price is up again this week by Y5,000 twice. So what are the flood of sellers thinking today. Can't they read?

EV production is accelerating faster than expected. The lithium deficit will soon begin to affect car production since no lithium mines that I can find are able to bring forward new supplies for at least a year. Zinnwald looks best placed to be the first. Can anyone efute this?

Expect further frequent price rises to ever higher levels for a year or two.

How high could lithium prices go?

"To cut to the chase, we suggest that lithium prices, which are already up 500% from the Q3/20 trough for SpodCon and 700% for BG lithium carbonate, could rise as high as 1300% from the trough."

No wonder Ganfeng are scouring the world for Lithium...

Lithium carbonate prices in China were 277,500 yuan/mt in the start of January, after a 486% surge in 2021, amid rising global demand and supply difficulties.

I don't think they will have anything to worry about with Tesla and VW up the road.Lithium in the heart of Europe

Just about everything is down this morning due to hawkish FED minutes released after the close yesterday.

Might be a wise move but imagine the carfuffle if they were later forced to sell to Ganfeng lol!

Gangfeng seem to want a holding in any decent lithium company. It's only a matter of time till a European company take a stake here. This could be a dog fight

It’s shoddy reporting, their holding is what they received from the in specie transfer from their BCN ownership prior to the takeover. ~0.29x~0.31 of the O/S. The secured creditors amount is reflected in the G&P gmbh holding who have been selling down on behalf of the creditors.

The article makes an incorrect assumption.

BCN distributed znwd shares in specie to holders. By virtue of being a shareholder at the time of the distribution ganfeng received a holding of around 9%.

Where the solarworld holding has gone is another question.

I don’t really understand this…..if Gangfeng are really interested in ZNWD then why did they agree to Bacanora distributing their shares in ZNWD to its shareholders as part of the takeover?

ZINNWALD LITHIUM UP 15% AS NEWS OF GANGFENG STAKE SINKS IN

"...Solarworld. That’s a German solar cell manufacturer (they used to make the actual silicon ingots onwards) or rather that was a German solar manufacturer which then went bust. This meant that there was some 9% (about) of the Zinnwald stock in the hands of the Solarworld liquidator. It was always known that this was going to be placed but when and who with?

We now have our answer on that. The Solarworld stake in Zinnwald Lithium was placed just before Christmas but all we knew about it was that it was to financial market players (JP Morgan etc). That’s not securely placed, that’s still an overhang. Now the market is waking up to where it really went, to Gangfeng. Gangfeng is one of the big Chinese processors of lithium and there’s a hint that they – with some other Chinese companies – desire to have a significant stake in every lithium project going.

So, the share overhang in Zinnwald is gone, placed with long term investors. But also that’s Gangfeng, who may or may not want to have more of the project. It’s also true that we could take Gangfeng buying in as validation of the prospects for the Zinnwald project itself."
