They first announced it in November 2019?
hxxps://www.xaar.com/en/news/2019/xaar-announces-ultra-high-viscosity-jetting-capability-at-inprint-2019/

But are they promoting it more strongly recently? another example:

The headline of the article says "new technology", although in my quick read of the contents I could not see any recent developments mentioned.

They are clearly not going to get $33m for XAR3D.

This is what they said in the FY results announcement:

In the year ended 31 December 2020, the Company invested approximately £7.0million cash in Xaar 3D. Due to delays caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the development of Xaar 3D products, the Directors believe there was a risk that the Xaar 3D programme may take longer than anticipated when it entered into the original Call Option with Stratasys, and subsequently the Company would be required to commit additional funds to Xaar 3D. With further investment anticipated, the Xaar Board has considered all options for the future financing and ownership structure of Xaar 3D, and accordingly has held detailed discussions to sell the remaining stake in Xaar 3D. Terms are still to be finalised and may potentially differ to those of the Call Option originally agreed in 2019.

So the impact of COVID-19 has been a net negative for XAR3D and the reason they are selling is to avoid having to put extra cash into the business. This means they have a weaker hand, compared to when they negotiated the $33m call option with Stratasys.

Under the call option terms, Stratasys has to pay 55% of the max of $60m or 2x XAR3D sales. Since the sales for XAR3D were £734k in 2020, then it would be $33m payable under the call option.

If Stratasys were willing to pay $33m then they would simply exercise the call option.

They should be able to get $20m or so for it though IMO, which will help fund the rest of the business to profitability in a couple of years time. And this is better than putting a lot of extra cash into the 3D business to retain their stake while underinvesting in the core business and risking the survival of the company - which is exactly the mistake they made with Thinfilm.

Dil21 - one thing advfn got right is the filter button.
I use it a lot for the mutter from the gutter....
__________

33k sale put a quick stop to XAR’s early rise but it's just part of the noise.
I have a 5 figure holding and expect to sell at near 500p - give it a year or two.

$33 million(?)deal on the sale of their 3D business taking its' time.

Xaar "printheads are missing something that almost all other printheads have; the need for lengthy start up and commissioning routines."

This video shows how quickly Xaar printheads can be changed:

China was a main market in XAAR's heyday, so focusing there is no mistake.
IMO you won't regret adding. Could double from here - my initial target £5.

Well I’ve added the second half of my holding here on the back I’d the scsw tip. Will give it 6 months to see if they get some traction in China.
