melfaraj, most Irish stocks are quoted on the LSE also. So if you use a broker from outside the ROI then you would get around the high stamp duty.

Yes i have heard of Tullow, but never held the share. I would say i hold one of the most risky exploration stocks in the British Isles never name Ireland, Bula Resources (BUS). Many an investor has come unstuck on this one. Albert Renyolds is the chairman and two directors left last week, one being the CEO. The price droped from about 1.75/2p to 0.75/1p in about an hour. I orginally bought in at 2.75p a few months ago, so .75p did not seem that appealing. I decided to buy more at 1p and today they are 1.25/1.5p. During the summer they were 7+p on speculation of deals in Lybia and Iraq, some would say those deals are still there for the taking but big GAMBLE.

Today i bought an old favourite of mine, Kenmare Resources (KMR). This stock has been very good to me over the years and the company is realising a final phisibility report on their mine in Mozambique this month. Bought 20k at 19.5p and they closed the day at bid 19.5, so the next week or two will tell a tale.

sensible sid,

the petrolum company is tullow. it has been recently in the news during the oil price rise. thsi company had many good write ups about it a couple or so years ago. unfortunately it got nowhere.

as for fyffe, the company decided to close its online operation as it failed to get finance for it from outside in the present prevailing climate. meanwhile. the online auction failed to attract traders from outside the fiffe group.

allied irish bank, as far as i know is not doing badly, like most financials.

one problem withtrading irish stock is the stamp duty on them is 1%, twice that of british companies, which is already very high relative to the rest of europe.

melfaraj, i know of fyffe`s, i was watching them last year when they decided to go online with their `World of fruit`. I think the price trippled in a couple of months and they came back to earth just as quick.

I was looking at the graph of ALBK (Allied Irish Banks) last night and put in the graph of BKIR (Bank of Ireland). I saw that these two are always very close together, except that in the past month or so BKIR has pulled away from it. I know there is take over speculation surounding BKIR but with ALBK announcing their results later this month i think they will either make up the ground or else BKIR are in for a Fall. I was reading that ALBK now has more branches in Poland than they do in Ireland, this should be good for the future as Poland is a fast growing ecomony coming into the EU.

Eircom, What will be the end of that saga, i noticed big trades today of 1m,1.75m,2m ect. With Telcos starting to pick up again possibly some light on the horizon.
