Harry, I tend to agree (btw, I like your charts, I lurk a lot! ;)

I've been posting for a while that, sooner or later, I expect a thorough examination of the DOW 200 day and possibly even a break down through it, though I would expect any short term break of the 200 day to be regained fairly swiftly...at least initially. So I agree with your hypothosis. All things being equal I think it's the most likely scenario.

I recently copied a post of mine to the the 'historic DOW chart thread' that mostly summed up my feelings. As a chartist, I thought you might like the thread, so here ya go:

Mad4IT, 200 day should be tested again soon. This is the main bull trendline, which currently stands at around 11750, expect this to be tested aswell.

jack - lol! Aye. But I'm just trying to think like 'the market', though, obviously, it's just speculation on my part.

The market is determined (of course) to test the DOW 200 day ma, imho. Once tested, I expect a bounce, at least initially. Gonna whack my wad back in on the bounce....then get out and wait for the inevitable back test....then (probably) whack my wad in when it bounces again...but if it tests the 200 day for a third time...Oh lordy! That'll most likely be the test of the entire bull market, imho.

Monday 5th June. Volume high, 14% above the last 3 months average.

Volume output on the S&P 500 was on the heavy side, with 1,830 million shares changing hands during the session. This number exceeds the index's average daily volume output over the past 3 months by 14%.

Wot ho, mg.

Apparantly, Elliot Ness has finally got the skinny on all the members of congress who've been insider trading for the last ten years! Including the president and all his chiefs of staff!

Ooops! My mistake it would be a 2000 one day point fall, not 200 if that was ever exposed!...Err, which it wont be...EVER!

Cheese quarter pounder with fries, anyone ?!

tub of lard - YES! not had a losing trade since 10th May and don't expect to either (for 18months+ anyway).

91% down volume on NYSE today. 90%+ down days often come near market bottoms - and the Put/Call is still very high/overbought. So I'm happy flat for now.

Evening, mg. I hope you are well.

Rog - No offence, but get a grip, son. Seriously! I shan't be talking to you (and I'm just about the only person who does) if you continue with this psychotic, thread trashing behaviour.....Rog, stop continually trashing all the decent traders threads because of your obsession with CA (and you know what I think of him, so keep that in mind)!

Seriously!
