With less shares after the buyback, and trimming some fat, they'll be raising the divi next! Wake me up when we get down to your 1089p, NY Boy. LOL.

Sorrel downbeat, share price falls, share buy back at good prices.

Nicely timed buy, Asturius, you've locked in an above average divi - at least - if you decide to hang around - otherwise I'd hope for a quick capital gain from such an oversold position. Well done.

Ok darling, Sorrell going to have to write down some of those acquisitions, substantial intangibles and debt to service relative to mkt cap, the integrated advertising model is dead.

Here are just two reasons why I think WPP is currently ridiculously oversold:

"The UK company reported a 0.9% fall in revenues to £15.2bn in its results for 2017". That's zero point nine.

"WPP’s pre-tax profits rose 7.7% to £2.1bn last year, but the company indicated that this year there would probably be job cuts among its 130,000 global staff." So they'll prudently reduce their costs.

Wormhasturned - don't waste your bile on me, I just filter pointless proles like you. R u related to NY Boy by any chance?

You usually have someone calling lower, and plenty calling higher.

None of us know the future and Any views are guessestimates at best, nothing
more than that.

If people want to pretend they have some gift or insight in to the future that's fine, it's also a fallacy.

Take any price and you'll always find a chancer calling it lower with that kind of snide comment... but most of them miss the boat because they simply don't have the bottle.

Extreme over-reactions on the downside seem ever more common lately - but can lead to exciting gains if you catch the bounce. GFRD up almost 20% in a couple of days after being pounded down.

yes - i concur, this really is overdone imho. it presents an excellent opportunity at these lvls even if only for the divs

Well, you've got 'em 40% cheaper than 9 months ago, Asturius101. Selloff/shorting seems ridiculously overdone - but similarly extreme situations have seen large and fast gains on the bounce in both PFC and GFRD lately. I'm already in at 1160p, and will be increasing should it hit my next downward target.

I think you'll find that the prospective yield is higher than 5% now (and covered two times over according to DividendMax). Alternatively I wouldn't be surprised to see a bid if the share price remains depressed.

- I've just checked - its 5.4% according to them - however the optimised yield is currently 6.9% the highest level in 52 weeks. I think I may buy some more.

Well, at least Sorrell's pay cut is a good starting point. Next a bit of restructuring is required. WPP media buying agencies need to start merging and a head count reduction is now inevitable. WPP Creative agencies also need to streamline and embrace digital a hell of a lot more.

"This is getting out of control" - hardly - just another money making opportunity. Share buy-back already announced.

"Shares in WPP were 0.4% lower at 1,275.50 pence on Friday, having fallen 33% over the last twelve months. At Friday's price, WPP has the authority to acquires shares worth GBP1.48 billion."

As the share price is currently 10% lower than that they can buy back even more. That's about 10% of the market cap. Let the shorts hang themselves.

2 days without support from share buyback ,almost makes you think the company want the share price down lower !

This is getting out of control and time for Sorrell to put a strategy together... creative industry is under pressure. It is not going to be suave moving forward unless leadership and drastic measures are put in place.
