It never was my thinking that made the big money for me. It always was my sitting. Got that? My sitting tight! It is no trick at all to be right on the market. You always find lots of early bulls in bull markets and early bears in bear markets. I've known many men who were right at exactly the right time, and began buying or selling stocks when prices were at the very level which should show the greatest profit. And their experience invariably matched mine--that is, they made no real money out of it. Men who can both be right and sit tight are uncommon.

The desire for constant action irrespective of underlying conditions is responsible for many losses on Wall Street even among the professionals, who feel that they must take home some money every day, as though they were working for regular wages.

Resources rule OK! Consequently, investments moderately underperformed FTSE100 today with a (0.31%) decline as opposed to a 0.03% gain for FTSE100. We had 18 Shares Up, 27 Down & 3 Unchanged. Now 48 companies with stock level @ 46.9% following the purchase of 2 extra companies + the VUKE Add.

In the past ABF shares had been given a premium rating and traded off a PER around 30. I think that was overly generous but continuing profit growth of 11% is not to be sneezed at so I would have thought a PER of c27 for the current year to be about right. EPS is expected to come in @ c118.59p according to Digital Look giving a fair valuation of c3202p. The controllers are probably trying to get ABF down to a PER of 20 in the first inst...so we need to brace for c2372p.

I will probably top-up @ c2450p depending on the state of the wider market.

As far as I can see Primark (and the rest of AB Foods) had better results than Debenhams but ABF is down and DEB is up.Markets make no sense at all!

I've been looking back at America's historic performance and trying to map the 1982/2000 Secular Bull with the current one. I've decided that DOW's 1987 base of 1616 potentially maps to the Aug 2015 low of 15370. In which case I have DOW reaching either c25654 or c27861 depending on the extrapolation method used and possibly by the end of 2017. Gulp!

That would make 9000 for FTSE actually feasible. Consequently I have pinched one of Invisage's companies (SWDA) and bought an initial tranche of the predominantly American world tracker. That makes 48 companies and stock level up to 48.6%.

What the hell were they looking for?

Decided to re-buy a smaller amount of SBRY as, on reflection, looks to be in recovery now...making 47 companies again. Added a few VUKE on the initial weakness.

I don't know where I got the idea that Primark was not doing so well! Stonking update and even sugar is doing handsprings. Fair value looks to me to be at least 3200p so it looks like we'll be holding ABF for a while.

Well done with JLEN & TRIG.

We are currently up 10% on TUI (current average 1033.75p) but we have also banked some profit as our original holding was at 1009.2p.

I do wish the majority of Americans would stop hating the Russians. Mistrust is all very well but I think Trump's attitude is about right for now. Whether he's been up to some S & M in Moscow and St Petersburg and its on tape and video (bound to be bugged) is another matter but surely Vlad would not want it made Public if Trump is being blackmailed and he might start going off Brits if this MI6 guy has made it all up!

My average price for BMS is currently 324.7p but I'm holding fairly light and will only start Adding if it drops below 240p or demonstrates some signs of recovery. I may well get rid of it @ somewhere around 310p.

That could be a good call, zara, re impeachment.

BTW, I hope you don't mind but its loose (as in an arrow) not lose (as in what team's do when they play Chelsea FC).
