Greene King turned out some fair results but lost some ground, "the cautious outlook comments sent Greene King shares down 29.5p to 817.5p in lunchtime trade."

Wetherspoons joined in the fall it seems due to that comment, but if the cash is coming in to Greene King no reason why the same should not be happening at the 'spoons'... always busy in the two in my town :-)

Look forward to the next results...in the meantime I will continue to give them my support :-)))

Like payney36, my local spoons are always busy and as I travel around I have yet to see one quiet.

Any Weatherspoon I go in is always packed and is only getting busier also. Good value beer and food. Not bad quality food either. Let's hope that there is a change in the tax laws to help us in the near future.

Having had some experience of the Manchester pub trade, I can imagine a 'Pound Pub' will be well-received by a certain clientele that would make it a complete no-go area for most of the rest of us! JDW themselves have suffered from image problems as their cheap beer offers have often attracted 'gentlemen-of-the-road' types.

Pub could become cheapest in the UK with pints for £1.50 and halves at £1

The PoundPub is expected to open over the Easter period and will have traditional pub games such as darts and billiards.

One other PoundPub is due to open in Manchester

as a reguler in JD,s have noted of late the large increases in beer prices,up another 15/20 this past fortnight.which puts most of there real ales between 235/250 a pint, which is still cheap when looking at the opposition, not that they sell "real ale",

Buy on the rumour, sell on the news. Unfortunately the statement seems true again.

Wspoon has done very well since April. Not sure there can be more upside considering the general market conditions.
'Hold' is my view

Whilst many pubs are still closing down JDW's pile it high and sell it cheaper is still the name of the game.

My local Pubs are empty with the exception of Wetherspoons - they're just to expensive and have no atmosphere as no one's in them weekdays.
