03/8/2024 21:56 | The Spoons are always rammed round here Weekends and most other Nights. I think Craft Union has taken over the Catford Spoons which closes on the 25th August, they have quite a presence now in SE London. At least they're cheaper than the Regular Pubs and a bit more down to Earth. | isis
03/8/2024 13:08 | Limiting tax free pension pots to £1m and ISA pots to a similar level will not lead to howls of protest from Labour supporters. Encouraging those with small or no pension likely to be a priority. | darrin1471
03/8/2024 10:31 | Most of my friends took a quarter of their pension tax free and are spending it ?Quite a bit on visits to the pub lol ?They won't be going out so much when it's gone ?And the quarter tax free is almost certainly going to be stopped soon ?. | gozzie2
02/8/2024 09:37 | stay long. | blueball
01/8/2024 16:35 | Moved upwards following the rate cut news at midday. | bountyhunter
01/8/2024 14:21 | As expected Stonegate kicks the can down the road 10.75% coupon price with £250M from TDR plus £37 million of additional 10.75% senior secured notes due 2029 as compensation to investors backing the transaction. JDW reported favourable terms for the new agreement with the banks. Reckon it was close to half what Stonegate will be paying..... That's a heck of a delta in bank fees between the two companies. | gwatson56
01/8/2024 12:26 | Absolutely coming soon CGT ??Newquay Spoons almost half price of any other pub ??No brainer for a couple?Or more lol ?? | gozzie2
01/8/2024 11:06 | Changes to CGT, inheritance tax, and pensions are expected in the budget. Plans will be leaked to high-net-worth investors via tax advisors. If CGT was aligned with income tax then TM may have just saved £1m in additional taxes. | darrin1471
31/7/2024 20:17 | Jefferies raises JD Wetherspoon price target to 1,000 (925) pence - 'buy' TM sale would have had a buyer be it a MM or a reduction in the current short. I agree that this could be tax planning as the prospects for JDW appear from my perspective to be good. Reckon on mid 800's for year end. I suppose the budget might throw either a spanner in the works or throw some tax break the way of the sector. Still either way which way the JDW venues I go in are busy. | gwatson56
31/7/2024 18:56 | TM sold 1,361,000 @ £7.39 on Friday 26/07/2024 TM last bought 968,544 @ £7.00 on 01/09/2023 Before that TM bought 2,600,000 @ 457.25p on 01/02/2023 Could TM be CGT planning ahead of the Labour budget in a few weeks? | darrin1471
31/7/2024 18:21 | He's up on that already. | bountyhunter
31/7/2024 18:14 | EI. Its ironic that you bought on Friday when Tim was selling. I know you have said in the past that TM is an astute reader of the JDW share price Are you tempted to sell? TM sold 1,361,000 @ £7.39 on Friday 26/07/2024 TM last bought 968,544 @ £7.00 on 01/09/2023 Before that TM bought 2,600,000 @ 457.25p on 01/02/2023 edit: Could be CGT planning ahead of the Labour budget in a few weeks | darrin1471

30/7/2024 07:10 | Wetherspoon's was founded by Tim Martin in 1979. He took the surname from a teacher at school who had told him he would never amount to anything. The initials, meanwhile, were taken from J.D. 'Boss' Hogg in The Dukes of Hazzard. | bountyhunter
30/7/2024 00:34 | I think he already has diversed - apparently worth around £450m obviously alot of that is Stock, but when you're nearly 70 you can't really spend it! lol | isis |
