So buying a few at £25.44 and hoping for a short squeeze hasn't worked out. Now buying a few more at about £18 and hoping for a bounce (in the oil price and the share price).

Not sure what to make of today's presentation. Although fairly upbeat in tone, it has the feel of a presentation put together at a much higher oil price. 22% of revenue from US shale oil (slide 10) with the Goldman Sachs new field breakeven cost analysis chart (slide 4) isn't very encouraging when you overlay today's oil price on the chart, particularly when another 36% of revenue is coming from the minerals business, which faces its own commodity price challenges.

Daily Mail Market Report saying that pump manufacturer Weir Group are falling with the oil price.
Lower oil price , less fracking in the U.S. which may decrease the demand for pumps !
DYOR etc.

Here we go,

Should have kept the short position open at 2625p on the sprike created by Citi's "take-over target" incantation.

Learning and all that.

I shall not make the same mistake with Fenner, which are battling with more depressed end-markets - whether replacement or OEM.

1gw:. Currency risk - political uncertainty - and increased taxes long term to pay for the "political promises" (bribes)

On what basis pugugly? Customers still want the products and services I would have thought. Are you implying European business could suffer somehow through being out of the EU?

Close to a 52 wk high, upgraded by Credit Suisse and still 4.5% disclosed short position. Ouch!

Stopped loss here :-(. Another of these take-over rumor?
Trading at 18x PE. Caterpillar never went over 15x.
Learning, living and all that.

EDIT: Ah yes, the first-in-class argument developped by Citigroup this am, PT raised over £30. Heard that argument about FENR by Credit Suisse and others last year at 425p, with PT in the 480p - 500p range.
I feel that the valuation is beyond reason, but will let the momentum run further before reconsidering a short position.

Just openend a speculative short position at 2625p - on valuation ground and earnings & currency risks. Nothing more.

Share price has recovered to where it was before Thursday's IMS. Could do with a few broker upgrades now to get things motoring.
