masurenguy: Graham Neary likes Water Intelligence! "This US-based leak detection business is another example of a High Flyer (aren't these categorisations very useful?) For the uninitiated, that means high quality and high momentum, but little value, at least as value is traditionally understood. Paul last covered it with the share price at 200p, in February. So congratulations to anyone who has earned a 100% return so quickly, by holding it since then. Some of you have probably been holding it for a lot longer than that, and have a much bigger return! The first time I wrote about this share, in 2016, it was priced at 70p. Ok, let's see how things are going according to the latest update. Trading is comfortably in line with expectations, a phrase which can be interpreted to mean that we have a good chance to see an earnings beat later in the year. The top line and bottom line are both mentioned in this regard, so we have the perfect combo of strong sales and strong margins. We are on track to meet the goals set forth in the Chairman's Statement for the 2017 Annual Report released earlier this year: passing $20m in annual sales during 2018 and passing $25m in annualized sales in the near-term. The capital base grew in March with an equity fundraising - when we have more detailed numbers for 2018, I will do my usual checks for the returns generated on this increased base. I expect they will come back very positive. Excitingly, the company cites "strong worldwide demand" for its products, and expresses the wish to go international with a "scalable business model". Its international business is active in the UK, Australia, Ireland and Romania. If the strategy succeeds, I am confident that Water Intelligence will prove to be worth a lot more than its current market cap, despite the high rating. H1 PBT is up almost 50% year-on-year, to $1.25m. So it's understandable that the share price has gone on a tear. Holders don't have any reason to cash in their chips, with a company performing so well and looks to have so much potential. I think the very high rating is probably justified."
effortless cool: Just checked on investigate, and it's a non-regulatory RNS, hence not considered financially significant. The share price rise is very welcome, however!
yamaha865: The RNS seemed a bit 'fluffy' so I'm surprised the share price is up 6% in response. Anyone know why this is significant? Not complaining though!
mysteronz: Paul Scott on recent trading update Water Intelligence (LON:WATR) Share price: 123.5p (up 14.4% today) No. shares: 12.0m Market cap: £14.8m Trading update & acquisition - this is an unusual little company, mainly based in the USA (but with small UK operations too). It detects & fixes water leaks, e.g. for swimming pools. The business model is partly franchised, partly company operated branches. I quite like the update today. Overall it's just an in line update. However, growth has been strong, with the company reinvesting the proceeds into more marketing & other overheads. I'd rather see growth, and the proceeds reinvested, than no growth at all; ...Profits before tax remain in line with expectations, reflecting the Company's choice to fuel further growth through reinvestment in both additional staff and marketing efforts in order to capitalise on the market opportunity in its geographies: United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. A lot more detail is given. The company has reacquired a couple of franchisees, which should boost the reported profits. My opinion - I vaguely recall trying to buy some shares in this micro cap company a while back, when my friend Edward Roskill mentioned it positively, in an interview I recorded with him. However, the share was so illiquid, that I couldn't get any stock at all, so gave up on it. Pity, as the share price has almost tripled since then. Generally, I try to avoid the smallest & most illiquid stocks these days, as I can't buy or sell in the size I need to make it worthwhile. Also, if anything goes wrong, or if you need cash in a hurry, then this type of thing can be a nightmare (or impossible) to exit. That said, the company seems to be trading well, and growing. So it could be worth a look, if you're prepared to swallow the risk of possibly being stuck high & dry in the share.
martinthebrave: Graham Neary on Stockopedia today - Quite positive! Water Intelligence (LON:WATR) Share price: 133p (+6%) No. shares: 12m Market cap: £16m Q4 Trading Update and Year-End Corporate Items This primarily US-based leak detection and fixing business has been going from strength to strength over the past year, culminating in the following Q4 trading update: The Company's strong financial performance referred to in the Q3 Trading Update on 21 December 2016, continued for the remainder of 2016. Revenue growth exceeded market expectations within all sales channels, including newly acquired UK-based NRW Utilities, with total revenues for the year of $12.2m (2015: $8.8m) with adjusted profit before tax in-line with market expectations. Costs rose due to a UK acquisition and a few other activities which are not ongoing, so hopefully 2017 will be even better. Profit margins are expected to grow during 2017 with a full year of trading from the 2016 acquisitions, together with continued organic growth. There's another small bonus for investors as the company announces that it will release final results on or around 9 May. Last year, investors had to wait until June to get the figures, which is far from ideal. I discussed this company last year and noted the high returns achievable through its franchise business model. My opinion: Highly investable if you're comfortable owning a US company.
martinthebrave: Pretty impressive when you can do a placing at 10% above the prevailing share price. Bodes well for the future IMO.
pyemckay: real strength in the share price recently. all encouraging.
