Not sure if HTC has other platforms to choose from, but this year it looks as though they are again hosting -Vive Ecosystem Conference & New Product Launch Event- on Vive Sessions (ENGAGE). Previous year had bookings from 55 countries.

"HTC selected the ENGAGE VR events platform from ImmersiveVR Education (IVRE) as the underlying system for conducting the V²EC2020 as it was able to meet the needs of a full-scale industry event in a virtual arena. ENGAGE VR allows attendees to have 1:1 social interactions and high visual quality, while offering management tools to conduct a large-scale event with or without a VR device."

That was a pretty impressive TU on the 7th, Octopus obviously thought similar.

In three months VRE have signed up 28 new customers, or roughly half of the full year 2020 of 60. If we extrapolate first quarter group revenue of €0.6 million it would give a f/y figure of €2.4 million, however I think this could be conservative given the current momentum.

HTC revenues from China start to materialise in Q2, also launching into EMEA, Australia in March should help grow revenues.



The larger partnership’s such as VictoryXR, HTC were signed in 2020, development work (VictoryXR porting their catalogue to ENGAGE) would have taken time to work through bearing fruit in 2021 and beyond.

Independent feedback seems quite positive, in particular Mansour Razminia (Cardiac Electrophysiologist) and those attending (posted by hazl above) were very complementary.

On the financials, very difficult to predict breakeven point but with €2 million cash at year end plus accelerated growth curve benefitting from additional business managers it shouldn’t be too far off.

This is just a quick summary but enough for me to join Octopus on the long side.

The class uses the EngageVR platform to meet as avatars in a virtual space. Students can watch PowerPoint presentations in a virtual conference room, allowing everyone to sit and watch and interact with each other. One of the virtual rooms is a 360 planetarium where the class avatars gather on a platform and immerse themselves into 360 media, whether it be students’ work or professional work.

“Engage VR offers different virtual settings and we’ve done a variety of experiences and then we’ll come back and debrief,” Opel said. “For example, over the course of 30 minutes one day we sailed on a tall ship off the coast of Africa, explored the grasslands of central Florida, joined Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road VR experience and stopped by the Oval Office for a group photo.”

When they aren’t traveling the world, students use the Oculus Quest to learn the necessary skills and techniques needed to create immersive 360 videos. Many of the students have no prior experience with the headset or a VR environment, and the lack of textbooks on the subject requires them to make their own observations by watching the works of others. This learning curve urges students to critically evaluate the work of others so that they can incorporate those principles into their own work.

“By watching together in a virtual space, we are simulating the theater experience where we hear each other’s reactions in real time,” Opel said. “Most VR is consumed individually as a solo experience but EngageVR allows us to recreate a group audience experience.”
