The Helium investment seems to have been the catalyst but some of the interest may be driven by yield considerations. It's hard to get any decent yield in the market and confirming the 2013/14 divi puts it on a stonking 7.5% even if there is an element of doubt beyond 2014.

@hatter2,

because its cheap and people are realising this?

because as time goes on the result from the review looks more promising, and will just fade?

who knows, noise maybe?

Interesting movement today: do we have any idea on the decision date regarding the use of flow monitoring?

Well it needs to do something. Whatever the longer-term prospects, it's the only share in my portfolio sitting there like a lemon going nowhere while the markets storm ahead.

Someone probably hit the button by mistake. I know I've done that before and you can't unvote your vote.

I seem to have a stalker. This is the second thread I've started where the header post is 'voted down'. How can you 'vote down' a couple of graphs and a company name?! Sheesh, there are some sad individuals on these bb's!

I do not hold here but is on my watchlist and have held MONI for some time ;-))

There are many different Near Field Communication system and card systems out there but MONI seems to be winning the battle now with major customers (IBM have been targeted for 18 months)

The ultimate goal is for your smart phone to become your mobile wallet to pay for any service(backed by VISA)

I suspect VNET would benefit from the ease to spend cash, especially if alcohol (and maybe gambling) are involved. IMO only. DYOR

But VNET have a bigger short term battle to win?

pj

edit- maybe cash is the wrong word to use, substitute with ''your capital'' borrowed or not!! :-//)

I would say it was a distinct benefit to us. VNET's Vending Solutions rely on touch-and-pay cards/mobile phones being in circulation and their use being 'routine' so the quicker it gets adopted, the better for VNET. VNET are a potential 'customer' as far as MONI are concerned. I.e., they are just using the technology in a vending machine but rely on others to produce the technology for them to access.
All in my understanding, of course, but I don't think VNET do any of the actual 'cloud-side' of the transaction - that would have been VISA's contribution. Similarly, I would have expected them to source the card-reader from a third party (but I may be wrong).

I'm afraid I'm a tech illiterate. Does MONI's announcement today of a tie-up with IBM to provide a contactless payment system via Visa present a threat to our system or is it complementary?

"They are aware of one PubCo who used to do this, but now doesn't."

I guess that would be Enterprise. I accept that I may be out-of-date on this - I haven't worked in the business since 1998!
