composition ? - both are based on existing treatments for which Tris has created long duration versions. This is why FDA rejection is particularly bad in this case as they should have been "easy" approvals. Something is clearly very wrong at Tris but Vernalis has quite clearly stated the issue is not with the treatments themselves. Therefore I guess they mean the FDA is not happy about some part of the manufacture.

Who care about the NHS?! The market is in the US where medicine is at least five years ahead of the backward UK. Cough/Cold is huge in the US. In the UK we prefer to pay ridiculous amounts of money for colourful packets of ibuprofen that do absolutely nothing except possibly store up long term stomach problems.

Some Americans complain they pay more than anyone else for healthcare and yet they are more often that not lucky enough to get access to the newest drugs and surgical techniques several years before anyone else.

What are the ingredients of CCP 07 and 08 ? Cannot find any details in the company information.
I always had doubts over their overpriced long acting cough mixture.there is no way that the NHS would fund those scripts .as for one a day 20 x cost of generic amoxycillin that would not go down well with UK CCG.
Woodford invested here so I looked at it and decided it must have been the other research that attracted him.
I am now thinking he just makes multiple investments in the hope that a few make it. A bit like investing in oil companies in the hope one finds the giant field.
On that basis if you fancy biotech investing in his fund is better than investing in any indidual components of it.
Possibly better odds than a lottery ticket.

I wish that was true fhmktg but the cat is already out of the bag - an update in a few months means no update next month. Maybe I am reading too much into an RNS shoved out the door first thing Monday morning, but I suspect the ongoing silence here will continue. We have to assume the worst with CCP-07/08 as management haven't done anything to suggest it will be otherwise. If the changes were minor they'd have been resolved ahead of CCP-08 approval and today would have been better news from Vernalis.

Of course by an "update in a few months" he means an announcement that they have resubmitted a joint NDA for CCP-07 an CCP-08. This is also code for "don't expect any update in September".

Let's say they announce re-submission in December. That would likely mean that we won't know for another year what is happening with these products and we can forget any revenues at all for 17/18.

Agreed, and this is a weird headline given that the share price has dropped 10% on today's disappointing news...

My dog would do a better job. The wall of silence from Vernalis today says it all. Hiding behind a half-assed news release when they should be explaining to rightfully concerned investors how they are going to amend their omnishambles of a strategy to compensate for the latest developments. Instead all we get is "we looking forward to updating on progress in the upcoming months".

NOT GOOD ENOUGH MR GARLAND.

Is this your application for the CEO job☺

The CFO is a competent performer, in the last results call he had all the answers and had to step in to cover when Garland didn't know the figures.

You could almost forgive Garland's performance if he wasn't raking in big pharma salary and bonus for running a mid cap company with little revenue to show for millions spent on sales and product acquisitions.

Think about it this way - replace Garland with a CEO on half the package he is on and you pretty much immediately compensate for the loss of CCP-07, CCP-08 and Moxatag launch year revenues.

Moxatag is never going to happen - this was a waste of time acquisition of an expensive product with no particular benefit over the basic antibiotic that is twenty times cheaper. Worse still, Moxatag is not cost effective for the manufacturer to produce at the kind of margins Vernalis want, which is why a solution has not yet been found for Moxatag production and is unlikely to be in the future. I expect Vernalis will eventually have no choice but to write off their entire investment in Moxatag.

Vernalis should be providing investors with an URGENT update as their strategy for CCP-07 and CCP-08 is dead in the water leaving investor completely in the dark about WTF is going on. They now have a huge, expensive in-house sales team that right now was meant to be training, gearing up to sell in four products across the US this season. They will now be spending the summer twiddling their fingers at shareholders expense and spend this season selling just one product. Does Vernalis now have any choice but to make yet another sales team related u-turn and make two thirds of the sales team redundant?

The fact is Garland seems to have abdicated responsibility for the problems at Tris, when he should be in there engaging with the problem, providing whatever funds or expertise was needed to help Tris and communicating progress to investors in a transparent way. Seems to me he's just leaving it to Tris to sort stuff out on their own. It is now obvious to everyone that Vernalis knew well over three months ago exactly what problems needed to be sorted out and in an unforgivable display of total leadership failure they've added another set-back to the ever-growing list of what is becoming a farce.

Garland needs to take responsibility and go and he needs to go now.

Not sure if it's the PLC structure, the Board, the CEO or all of the above ... But VER at the moment look incompetent at best. The lack of updates on pipeline projects is disturbing not simply because investors depend on this to make informed decisions. What is truly disturbing is there does not seem to be a strategy for the way forward. VER should be performing well (at least "On Paper"!), the fact it is not suggests a failure in leadership.

I agree with romeike that CEO removal should occur. In football parlance: winning the premier league one season doesn't save your job the following season if the club is heading to relegation, for this see: J. Mourinho and C. Ranieri !

But I also wonder whether the problem may be more deep rooted in the Board itself, surely there are other people involved in the decision making process than just Garland. If not, then there's a serious problem.

No updates on Moxatag and CCP-07. And it seems they had heads up that CCP-08 would struggle like CCP-07. Really disappointed with the lack of communication from VER.

And there we have it. No proper explanation, no apology. Just an attempt to blame Tris. Garland just admitted they already knew months ago from CCP-07 knock back what the issue was and he failed to prevent the same outcome for CCP-08.

Time Garland was put out to grass and get in a less expensive CEO who puts the effort in. We need someone who doesn't turn up to results calls sounding like they just got off the golf course.
