Virtual Internet PLC ("Virtual Internet" or the "Company") announces that it
was notified today, 4 April 2001, that Jason Drummond, Chief Executive, bought
200,000 ordinary shares of 25 pence each at 45 pence on 4 April 2001.
Following this transaction the total holding of Jason Drummond is 13,226,156
ordinary shares representing 53.5% of the issued share capital.

In addition the Company received notification on 4 April 2001 that the Virtual
Internet ESOP Limited ("ESOP") bought 200,000 ordinary shares of 25 pence each
at 45 pence on 4 April 2001.  Following this transaction the total
shareholding of the ESOP is 200,000 ordinary shares, representing 0.8% of the
issued share capital.
