Not a lot pako. ATON have reduced the spread by reverting to where they sat for 3 months previous. They will have some stock on their books at that price from months ago that they need to shift. They've been bullied out of it before so now they're taking their chance. The ones on the bid are happy to pay 7.75p for stock which they'll sell higher later. One thing it does show is that 'bad news' hasn't leaked, or rather MTRF and ATON haven't got wind of any, because it they had then the two on the bid would not be sitting there for a start. Anyway, narrow spread because of ATON, the rest are playing their usual game. Aimho, etc....

What should we read into the tight spread?

MMs inviting volume? share price at decision point up/down?

I would welcome comments from those who make it their business to understand these things!

MMs havent got a clue about the company's fundamentals, all they know is to use their dirty tricks to walk the share price down to take cheap shares and then sell them for the higher price later, think these mms have had quite a few shares from 2-3p level. so the more they do this big swings i.e. from 3-16p and from 16-7p, and then back up again to make people feel they will miss the train and pile in, the more money they make. so expect to see a few more spikes before news, hope the news this time is better than the 5PM one :)

No one was talking about any placement here as it would not be successful anyway at this time. To get the required amount of money PIs should rob a bank each. While institutions would not risk before seeing that UEN is progressing very well with D&T development. We welcome Sberbank into our club;)

Exactly. As bethany points out, if anything Sberbank may take a stake in Urals/D&T as part of some restructuring in return for finance. In effect they'll be financing their own interests. But better to have 30-50% of something worth 1-2 billion than 100% of something worth say 200 million. Either that or a JV with a major. A placing at this price just doesn't make any economical sense.

Reason for ATON and MTRF(imho) joining the party is either a scare tactic or they are simply selling stock where they were placed for months during the January to April lull. ATON and MTRF were both on around 8p during that time but didn't sell anything thanks to KBC. Now they have a chance to be sole sellers on the offer, so they are well happy.

May be I am really stupid, I just do not understand why should giving some new shares to Sberbank in exchange for $2Bln cash reduce the sp?? The company should then be valuated as more than $2 billion. For an extreme case of 10 to 1 dilution, this would mean 70p/share Do your maths yourself please.

Yes LMDP, I also don't think they could issue new shares at the moment as it is just like a drop of water as to the debt sea.

I'd like to think I'm a realist and not greedy. If UEN are "reunited" with the two prized assets and still maintained A and P and if the deal is with Sberbank I'd settle for 25/30% of the new restructured UEN provided Sberbank funds all the capex and running costs right up to when maximum production has been achieved. Better to have a smaller share of a good and growing company than being the sole owner of struggling minnow imo.

Firstly that lot had less than 2.8% because it ain't listed in their top 10 as of 31 December 2008. Gooner has about that many! They sold them all before 31st March 2009.

Secondly shut up about bloody dilution and placings. It's utter nonsense for them to even contemplate a placing at this price. Someone mentioned yesterday about how they would want the price up ten fold from here before it would even be considered, I agree. Just think about it and do the maths ffs! No wonder the mm's can make a monkey of UEN holders when they talk their own holdings down with unnecessary and fabricated worries.
