Spot on, market is unhappy anyway today but it was only a little bit I was looking for. It may be that point now! |
You could be right Klotzak but I personally think this will do what many firms that announce results lately have done. Fall on the news then recover over the coming few weeks when they move out of the headlights.
Long term this is a safe place to be and I am happy at 1040 even though there could be a better opportunity to get in today or next week. |
Never catch a falling knife! There's a little more to fall yet |
PanderThe Jefferies comment was on the CMC platform;that's why UU was down over 7%. |
Revenue up, profit up and divi maintained, bad debt down. Nothing to see, boring, just as it should be. |
Link? I don't see a profit warning? |
Jefferies says UU has announced a profit warning today due to cost inflation;£60 million hit to profits - materially below broker forecasts.
Even the Utilities aren't immune and they have very high PE.Pennon announces on Monday. |
I am in today having been watching for a while. 1080 was what I previously wanted but to get in at 1040 has to be a good thing in the long term. Divi at almost 4% too so once the dust settles here we should move back over £11 quickly and before 23.06 imo |
Results are fine. Overreaction. |
Down 6% on little to no volume..... |
Ouch, these have gone down well |
I think so Pierre and hopefully I will get my entry price very soon too. |
Just bought back the other half of the ones i sold a couple of weeks ago, just tidying up getting them all in one isa. Should be safe ... i hope. |
This one is holding up well considering the wider market. I am holding for 1080 but am kind of thinking if it didn't get sub 1100 earlier today then maybe it won't as it's a good defensive hold. |
Added more this afternoon.
Very bearish in general but Utilities probably safe-ish. |
My journalist friend tells me that when she wants to enhance a piece she invents quotes and gives vague attribution. No-one can disprove the source, she could claim confidentiality and sometimes it will provoke an official denial. But I do think the sewage issue is one that is gathering steam and most people think outrageous that there are so many discharges. As to who ends up paying, that is another Q. |
Have this on my radar and am looking for 1080. Interesting post above but I can't see that happening, big political pressure I mean. |
BBC headline today Sewage: Ban water firm bonuses until discharges end, Lib Dems say
Perhaps more concerningly is this quote;
"We are clear that we want water companies to spend more on better infrastructure and far less on pay-outs to shareholders," a government source told the BBC. |
I recall looking at my holdings a decade or so ago and realising that I would have done better to have entirely invested in UU. Not quite true over the last decade and clearly not a sensible investment policy (Especially since the threat of renationalisation remains here in the long term to some extent) but you do sometimes wonder if better just to buy a load of trackers and investment funds and stop looking at the market. I'm sure that I could give it up any time I wanted :-) |
You sold too soon, or too late, i got 11.66 (honest!). I'm just tidying up, getting them out of my isa and hopefully buying them back to add to those in the wife's at a lower price. Bought at 6.37 in 2006, so not really day trading, or decade trading for that matter. Not great performance price wise, but add in the divis and i bet it's a pretty good return. |
Decided to trade some out at 1165. Held for many yrs but this looks a bit toppy right now. |
Share price absolutely flying...£12 is looking surmountable |
Boring old water has moved an ATH this morning. |
wad - pleased to read the trading update. |
