No other comments right now. I've only skimmed the results (I'm on Eastern Time).

Biggest message appears to be an excellent performance and all bases covered for forging ahead.

My original fears unfounded. Last week's analysts should hang their heads in shame.

Will get back to you when I've had a deeper read.

The 2,000 job losses announced in December combined the the product streamlining
is due to deliver a £500 M saving in 2014 - can anyone confirm is this an annual
ongoing saving? - I assume it is.

True NP.

Looks like about flat EPS this year so approx 18.3 X a year out.

Looks a fairly full valuation imv, then again you can say that about the rest
of the market.

Any other views.

EI, that pales into insignificance in the light of the reduction in net pension deficit.

These earnings look to be well ahead of brokers' consensus for the full year so I do not see the share price coming to much harm today.

Pre this update the '14 consensus is for a 3% EPS increase.

18 X for a 3% EPS increase looks generous imv, they may surprise the upside,
possibly.

Still on approx. 18x 2014 earnings for very modest '14 growth and falling EPS
on 2013 estimates

I used to work in China and i loved having a Tesco in the city I lived. On the other hand the chinese didn't like it and kept going to shop in Xin Hua Du (Wal mart recently bought it). The Unilever products seemed to be doing ok.

Look at the TSCO statement today and their update on some emerging far east markets, it looks to be getting tougher to find growth in many EM's IMV.

I must admit I haven't read the whole article by Redmayne Bentley in latest edition of Share Spotlight hxxp://www.shareworld.co/index.php/share-spotlight/september-26-2013/
I did not get passed the first paragraph, which is most interesting, as Unilever is one of my current favourite stocks.
As well as reading the article I suggest you take note of the message in the first paragraph and avoid the yield trap!
