22/1/2003 16:08 | Sod all activity though ... anybody out there? Good enough reason for me and 2 others to buy a few more though, and for one to sell. I guess its wait for Feb now and hope for some positive sentiment to help the price along. | rbryant
22/1/2003 10:55 | To answer my own question, Interim Feb 02 Profit 2.6m +25% Expected Feb 03 at least 3.25m +25% again Full year was 5.2m eps was 20.7p +20% If repeated at full year eps +20% = nearly 25p Therefore p/e at current price of about 8 | rbryant
22/1/2003 10:50 | If half year is 3.25m what was it last year, and if the same rise is reflected in the full year figues what p/e will that produce anyone? | rbryant
22/1/2003 07:56 | ah...is that what its called?...I thought that was still going ahead! | leeshindig
22/1/2003 07:49 | also note that they don't give - unlike almost every other company in the sector - any kind of sales comparative or breakdown trading is 'strong' - but what does that really mean? LFL up 3% or 5% or just not down? | photon

22/1/2003 07:19 | Not much detail, but if they are to match expectations then the price should bounce. The thing is the market just wants to trash the sector regardless so 'should bounce' might become 'won't bounce'. Regards, Justin. | jazza
21/1/2003 14:00 | Electric City was the proposed entertainments / pubs / clubs complex which was to be created next to 55 degrees north (Swan House) but it got squashed, then i heard a rumour that an application may be made in the near furture, but for what purpose i don't know. If it were another "in house" drinking complex this would also impact by diluting the quayside market. I MUST stress it was only a rumour which i heard third or forth hand and there's been nothing in the newspapers. Any other N/cle / G/head traders out there that could shine some light. | rescuer
21/1/2003 13:12 | Lee >>> any further rumours on electric city cheers glenn | rescuer
21/1/2003 11:17 | Cygnus >>> totaly agree with the 30+ i would guess more. Jesmond is becoming even more popular and if ULG get there club, and i'm sure Lee will correct me if i'm wrong, it will be the only club in Jesmond, although it is fair to say all the hotel offer 24/7 drinking for their residents. Lee >>> yeh, i had scottish equitable away this weekend and they did the pubs/clubs scene Quayside and they said they didn't have to queue to get in anywhere. Although my sister informs me that if your not in Tiger Tiger by 21.30 forget it. the opening of tiger Tiger will have taken some of the revenue from the quayside, but it'll be short lived and people will return. Lee sorry i've not responded to your e-mail, i've got child care problems this week. Week away from the office is great, until i go in next week and have to catch up, the other two partners have gone off to do some freelance with other companies. Any ways i'm off to play football in the square with the boy's, the 1 yaers old just started walking so it should be fun. PS sorry to all for straying from the thread. Speak to you soon Lee. Cheers glenn | rescuer
21/1/2003 11:06 | rescuer..hows it going? You could be right about sentiment in the sector, Luminar and yates reported lower sales at christmas, and looking around Newcastle centre last couple of weeks its been like a ghost town apart from students! Lee. | leeshindig
21/1/2003 10:52 | rescuer>> Thanks for the info, I was aware of the Gresham issue after reading about it in the Journal. However, hasn't Jesmond always been a sort of 'in' place? Whenever I've been over the last few years its always been busy. As for ULG, under normal circumstances if I bought at these prices I'd expect a good 30p+ leading up to and after results, now I'm not quite so sure. | cygnus
21/1/2003 10:44 | Cygnus, i put the recent drop in price down to the Luminar results, it seems to have take the market sector with it, although i'm sure ULG have had a good xmas. Another problem ULG have at present is the application for a club in Jesmond Newcastle. Jesmond is the new "in" place to drink, with many bars / cafe's and hotels, which have adopted a bar / cafe culture. It targets the "more upmarket" client base and attracts professionals from around the country on stag / hen weekends. The club in question is The Gresham Hotel, it was purchased last year and ULG have obtained a pre 1904 licence, but it's got alot of opposition from the local residents. Last month the court hearing was postponed because too many protesters turned up and they couldn't accomodate them. It has resisants from the local councilor and up to 200 residents. The application is due in court soon. In can't see any reason why it won't be granted because it is pre 1904, but stranger thinks have happened. I'll keep the board posted of developments with this application. | rescuer
21/1/2003 09:38 | Strange trades this morning, MM selling 1000 shares. Wonder if they are trying to reduce the price for a reason. | cygnus
21/1/2003 09:21 | If the eps is right, then it means a p/e of about 7.5 at current price. | rbryant
21/1/2003 00:43 | Luminar and Yates are both down this morning, though, on the back of a statement from Luminar on a slow-down in night-clubbing. Wouldn't have thought ULG should be too affected, but we may see some negative sentiment. Potentially a very good opportunity to buy at this level, or slightly lower if we see falls over this week. | stevemarkus
20/1/2003 21:37 | The current consensus broker forecast for earnings per share for the year ended June 2003 is 26.2p (based on five broker forecasts who all recommend as a buy), increasing to 30.4p for next year. | welshanalyst
20/1/2003 12:23 | Interesting, anecdotal piece about New Century Inns on teletext tonight (Sun. 19-1-03) quoting 40%+ increase in t/o and increase in profits. They own a selection of pubs in the N/E. | cygnus
10/1/2003 09:41 | rescuer >> cheers. I read the Journal too but must have missed that copy. | cygnus
09/1/2003 22:47 | Cygnus > i think last year when it was sitting about 25% lower was the easy money share. From here on it i think it's going to be slow and steady, progressive with good divi, would expect the price to quite easily get back to 250p before Feb. The local paper (The Journal) was very upbeat last week, wish i hadn't thrown it away, i would have posted it. May find it on-line tho if your interested. Not holding ULG | rescuer
08/1/2003 09:42 | Well, URM has/is going through the roof. Whats going to happen to ULG when it reports?? Previous years show a large rise after results are reported and they've been good. Business from various accounts (inc. mine) seems good. Expansion seems in line. Will this be the next 'easy money' share? | cygnus
30/12/2002 12:44 | stevemarkus, Last Finals were announced in September 02. Believe the Interims are due 26 Feb 03. GB. | greatbear
29/12/2002 16:08 | Don't know whether anyone noticed, but in the IC there were some results for Ultimate Leisure Group - don't think this can be correct though, as they aren't due to report until the new year. Can anyone throw any light on this or am I just confused? | stevemarkus |
