Turkish Energy Ministry grants formal drilling consent for Basur-3 appraisal well

UK Oil & Gas PLC (London AIM: UKOG) is delighted to announce that the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources ("Ministry") has granted UKOG Turkey and Aladdin Middle East formal consent to drill the forthcoming Basur-3 appraisal well, located in the Resan licence AR/AME-UKO/K/M47-b1, b2 ("Licence"). UKOG Turkey, a wholly owned UKOG subsidiary, has a 50% interest in the Licence, which contains the potentially significant Basur-Resan oil discovery.

The Ministry's permission, dated 2(nd) April 2021, follows the partnership's 1(st) April 2021 submission of the required Pre-Activity Information Form (Annexe-50) and Drilling Programme. The consent requires the Ministry to be notified 5-days prior to the actual spud date of Basur-3.

Drilling pad and access road construction works continue to progress ahead at good pace with completion expected by end May.

As detailed in the Company's announcements of 14(th) October 2020, January 15(th) and 23(rd) March 2021, Basur-3 is the first key step towards establishing the commerciality of the Basur-Resan Mardin oil pool, calculated to contain potentially transformational discovered recoverable oil resources (see: glossary below and Turkey presentations of January 15(th) and 23(rd) March 2021 on hxxps://www.ukogplc.com ).

Time scales for AME and its international partners worries me if past is a tool to equate their 'viability' so I would decide to decide, like I did with the halcyon days of ukog. Trade any tripe that is tinterweb lead ..like a runofthemill rns! he he

“Proving that there is commercial oil in Paleozoic sequence in Southeast Turkey by discovering 39 API gravity crude oil in the Arpatepe oil field in 2008, was one of the recent milestones we have reached,” reports Cem Sayer, President & CEO of AME.

### “Six years later, another crucial discovery was made in the same region, in an oil field called Oymantepe East Sadak, which turned out to be the first of its kind in Turkey where the same aged/sourced crude oil is being produced to that of Iraqi Kurdistan, but with a better quality – being above 43 API gravity.” ###

Oil discoveries

With the Oymantepe East Sadak oil field also marking the lightest crude oil discovered to date in Turkey, Cem is optimistic that the discovery will help enhance several prospects located in the Southeast and the North of the country.

He adds: “While the SE Anatolian Basin – part of the Arabian plate – has been developed successfully and is currently producing from a number of fields of different size, the area in between these fields has been almost completely ignored. In an attempt to change that, our exploration efforts focus primarily on these very structures, as we believe that they have significant hydrocarbon potential.


### The Oymantepe East Sadak discovery is on trend with the oil discoveries of Tawke and other major oil fields in Iraq, such as the Kirkuk oil field, and is expected to add to the significant resource base already discovered.” ###

They have drilled over 13 wells here. Look at the latest flow rates. Works out at about 84 bopd per well. Depletion rates are pretty high.
