Wednesday’s plunge in the stock market, was the biggest one-day drop of the year 😱 But many analysts were more alarmed by the inverted yield curve.

Yields on the 10-year Treasury bonds fell briefly below the yields on the two-year notes on Wednesday, an “inversionR21; that is often an indicator of a looming recession 🥺

Why does it matter? 🙇

The 2-year/10-year version of the yield curve has called it right, each of the past seven recessions, including the most recent slowdown between 2007 and 2009.

Evening news - With global markets flashing concern about the fallout from the U.S.-China trade war and the near-term strength of the American economy, U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday targeted Federal Reserve policy as the culprit for recent market turmoil.

In raising interest rates four times last year "the Federal Reserve acted far too quickly, and now is very, very late," in reversing itself and cutting borrowing costs, Trump tweeted. "Too bad, so much to gain on the upside!"Earlier on Wednesday, White House trade adviser Peter Navarro told Fox Business Network the U.S. central bank should cut rates by half a percentage point "as soon as possible," an action he claimed would lead "to 30,000 on the Dow."


There is no chance the U.S. Congress would approve a planned U.S.-British trade deal if Britain's exit from the European Union undermines the landmark 1998 Good Friday peace agreement for Northern Ireland, House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Wednesday.

U.S. President Donald Trump's administration is negotiating a free trade deal with Britain that would go into effect after it completes Brexit, now scheduled for Oct. 31. Any U.S.-British trade agreement would have to pass the U.S. Congress.


On Wednesday, the Dow Jones plunged as 800 points after the U.S. bond market flashed a signal that a recession may be on the horizon. Rational people understand that this is largely happening because of persistent fears about Donald Trump’s never-ending trade war with China, in addition to concerns about a global economic slowdown. And then you have the president, who has never once been accused of being rational, smart, or even sane, and who believes that this is all the Federal Reserve’s fault.
