WTD the reason they choke flow isn't because they don't want to measure the full extent to the possible flow. It's to retain pressure. If you produce some wells too quickly you can get a pressure drop which can damage them and reduce their total output.

UKOG will be desparate to show commercial flows. The idea they'd deliberately restrict that is ludicrous.

Why can't you accept that BB is probably not commercial?

Sensible debate goes out of the window with short positions. Shorts are destructive as you can see from the horrendous amount of posts from those who want to disrupt. Personally I think those who invest for traditional reasons ie for a quick profit or a long term investment are nearly there. The wording of the r.n.s statements and the activity from the b.b site looks encouraging as does the recent news from h.h. Why do I need to debate with someone that wants to damage the way I invest.....I don't...bring on the oil....

Oil prices are up despite data showing US production outweighed a rise in inventories.

Brent crude is up 1.2% at $64.54 a barrel while West Texas Intermediate is up 0.9% at $58.07.

US oil output is close to breaking through 10 million barrels per day (bpd). Last week it hit 9.79 million bpd - highest since the early 1970s.

You need to read up on hydraulics Henchard. You can measure high volume flow by simulating the flow by chocking the flow and measuring the head across the choke with the volumetric reduced chocked flow. Simply apply Boyle's law and assuming your coefficients are correct you can have a very accurate flow measure. This is done all over industry in some extreme safety-critical environments. This, I understand, is how the HH flow was measured and declared scaled up flow derived. It is possible to reduce tankering costs, which are pretty high, they are measuring choked flow with ample on-site storage. They will also be using chocked flow to measure any pressure drop across the choke on a time basis. Nothing in any of that is unusual from an engineering perspective- in fact it is somewhat routine.
