17/12/2022 14:37 | It is for your broker to decide if your trying to buy stuff you don't understand. What chance has anyone got understanding risk if they don't understand the assets very well. As has been already said, perhaps you should begin by doing some research. You should start by listing the assets and looking at them by classs, especially understanding how the contingent assets can work. | my retirement fund
17/12/2022 14:17 | @CC2014 I'm aware there is a risk premium with SMIF, however, I'm happy to accept that risk for the higher yield. It's not for my broker to decide how much risk I should accept. Furthermore, they let me buy them in 2021, were they less risky then? wllm :) | wllmherk
16/12/2022 22:07 | I'm not sure Ken, I've phoned them a couple of times and the person I spoke to just said he didn't know they don't get told why. He said it doesn't meet their criteria but he couldn't explain what those criteria are. Really annoyed as I wanted to buy a few weeks back when these were at their recent lows which would have reduced my average and increased my monthly income. I hold them in my ISA so tax-free. Not sure if I should put in a complaint to see what they say? wllm :) PS: there are a few stocks Halifax won't let you buy, off the top of my head APAX is one. | wllmherk
16/12/2022 21:23 | wllmherk Halifax should as other Brokers do, let you buy Twenty Four Monthly Income. Why don’t they? After all it’s an Investment Trust not some obscure very high risk share! | kenmitch

08/12/2022 16:08 | Really frustrating that Halifax Share Dealing won't let me buy these, could have significantly reduced my average and increased my monthly income. wllm :) | wllmherk
08/12/2022 15:58 | And again... Re: Dividend Announcement The Directors of TwentyFour Select Monthly Income Fund Limited have declared that a dividend will be payable, in line with the Prospectus, representing the regular monthly targeted dividend for the financial period ending 30 November 2022 as follows: Ex-Dividend Date 15 December 2022 Record Date 16 December 2022 Payment Date 30 December 2022 Dividend per Share 0.50 pence (Sterling) | cwa1
06/12/2022 10:54 | The mark-to-market yield of 16% suggests there is further capital appreciation, in the absence of defaults. | tiltonboy

30/11/2022 12:51 | A convincing recovery here continues with momentum, another whopping 2 million issue on Monday shows there is confidence in more to come. The appreciation in the value of underlying assets is not transparent, you can't easily see through to live prices of the top few assets as far as I can discover, but the weekly report shows steady progress and you kind of just have to draw a projection line on the chart and imagine SMIF trading at 80p by the New Year. Looks like it will be close to it at this rate. | marktime1231
11/11/2022 16:11 | A 3 million issue, a substantial vote of confidence from institutional investors that SMIF is a safe 8%-er and that we could well see underlying asset values turning up from here. If we could finish the year in the 80's I will be very pleased with myself. | marktime1231
10/11/2022 16:07 | I wondered where that was! | skinny

10/11/2022 12:16 | And another top up this morning at 72.5p this time in my SIPP, perhaps room for one more add before Christmas and then that might be enough. Fingers crossed for next week's budget and a glimmer that we have peak inflation in sight to restore confidence in debt. | marktime1231
04/11/2022 11:23 | Added a handful more at 72p this morning, everything crossed for a rally in to the New Year. | marktime1231
02/11/2022 13:27 | Earnings are supplemented by issuing new shares at a premium and cancelling some at a discount. Yes we have had another little bounce, let's hope we have seen the bottom this time. Intending to reinvest here again next week. | marktime1231
