Well Peter France said six months ago if he were in The market for an acquisition he would buy TTG- despite that he’s bought zilch shares in the company and the CFO is just on the gravy train and needs to go in my opinion.

Just bgt in here at 97p. If this company achieve £37m to 43m op profit then eps will likely be 13 - 15p. That makes this share price good value imo.

The company has been around for a long time and always paid good dividends. Share price not been this low for 10 years. Likely to bounce off this level imho.

ok but if they have question marks about areas that have such high numbers ref sales and profits and dont have an answer thats a terrible position to be in bearing in mind the debt.

Perhaps there is nothing to worry about and they just cant reasssure to be conservative but based on what you have said this company is currently uninvestable to me until there is more clarity ref numbers. This could perhaps have been avoided if they didnt have issues ref debt targets and provided more comfort ref ongoing profits - just too much uncertainty for me here. would be intersting to see what happens with next years broker targets - have any brokers updated today they are prrobably best place to know tyhe score ref what can be expected - the obvious danger is that there could be worse news to come perhaps and maybe they simply cant plan for that now if that causes to many problems with debt.

anyway i know very little about this company so probably best to ignore my idle speculation - hopefully for long term holders these isues with be sorted out sooner rather than later

My deductions from the webcast is that a particular complex product has reliability issues. They were very cagey so likely military or aviation. It sounds like they are still trying to understand the issues so delaying delivery of the product until they have confidence that it is fixed. Should they find the fix swiftly they expect revenues to ramp back up as deliveries are made in 2025. So a bit of a gamble to hold now and trust they can fix the issues with a potential recovery by mid 2025. Disappointing but this is the way with investing.

cheers eightwoder - i often worry that cfo's are patsies for teh whim of ohers in te organisation. surely its up to the whole board and probably specifically the audit committee to make sure processes are fit for purpose. Often i am presuming that all the updates to teh market by certain companies are just them struggling to upodate something meaningful as they dont have a good handle on whats going on at all. I suspect everyone hear agrees tahts its unlikley this new update can all be down to new events that have come to light since last update (unless they specifically didnt look to find out !!)

"Significant product rework costs"It sounds like the new CEO has been greeted with the task of fixing a botched contract, product, order. I didn't listen to the conference call and it is not up on the website yet but hopefully it has been explained in greater detail. Hope they don't need to cut the dividend.

How can they have this so wrong In Five weeks.

i think the reality is it doesnt - it suggests that they were over optimistic prior to their prior trading update and burying their heads in the sand. I dont know then company that well - perhaps they will bounceback but the update is ridicoluosly brutal ref drop in profit expectations and worse to boot debt potentially outside target range.

Wow, this is taking a beating. Something brewing?

well the reality is the slide on no news is simply reversing tehn rise on no news - so rather than something being up now one should perhaps say why did it spike up recently.

I am sat tempted on the sideline i must admit - alywas wary to take teh plunge when tyhe downward direction is as brutal as it is her.

are there any chartists here who might call a bottom? - could they make a case for 140p being a good support level?

the danger is that if there is bad news not out in the open peeps like are last to find out - they have so recently updated though it would be odd if there was bad news.

Some big lines of stock going through this week, against a rising share price. Very encouraging.

I understand your problem. Apart from low interest there is the allied question of liquidity.
Straying from the high tech to the midtech, albeit one that serves the high-tech and AI advance, I have recently favoured VLX. Steadily increasing turnover is forecasted to exceed $1b this year with a step advance in profitability. It has done me ok so far and is no longer obviously cheap but arguably remains very good value if momentum can be maintained. I am sticking with my present holding and may add when IQG payout comes through or if it drifts down with the market.

Back on thread, it is good to see TTG ending the week well.

Thanks for the insights. I've owned SOLI on and off over the years and will probably buy again at the right price. The others are just too small. There's no interest in UK small caps unfortunately.

If you can live with the hand-to-mouth financing strategy of ENSI, it might be worth a look. It is not heavily indebted, just that it lives on repetitive small bites of capital (the directors trying to minimise dilution, I assume) so that it always appears to have a limited runway. Otherwise, recent events seem positive enough with promising interest in its fabless specialist circuit designs mainly protected by topograhy rights rather than full patents. Another candidate for an opportunistic takeover and removal from the London market no doubt if it really starts to shine.

DSCV is a class act (albeit acquisition driven) but got over-rated and the shares have marked time as the earnings grow into the rating. Don't think it is broken, so watch trading statements for a resumption in organic growth. TTG has long looked cheaply rated, people get excited and then there was a failure to deliver and retreat in share price as the disillusioned moved on. That was under the management of the tool of a CEO who has gone off to ruin Oxford Instruments. But the new CEO is good and it looks as though he has got round to sorting out a few legacy issues (poor acquisitions and low value added activities) to properly upgrade the quality of earnings. It too seems to have some demand issues right now, but again, well worth keeping an eye on. And probably rated at half the level of DSCV. Then again, history suggests I'll be reflecting on what I have just typed, regretting it and moving on!

I have held a number of smaller engineering companies over time and most of them have been taken over, eg SSY. Profitable but not much help to ingoing investment. I would hesitate to recommend most of those I hold at present apart from SOLI as previously mentioned. They are either too niche (IGE), have a long history of over-promising (SRT), or are geographically questionable (MWE). Each of them has potential but is currently unsuitable for more than a speculative dabble unless one is a committed enthusiast for the particular technology.
So, like you, I would welcome a few useful ideas.

Had a little stab at DSCV following yesterday's rise here at TTG. Diversifying a little but hoping to catch the recovery trend in the electronics sector. Does anyone have any ideas for similar companies?

This has looked potentially quite cheap on the basis of getting their margins right. I am hoping for a run up similar perhaps to that seen in SOLI over the past 4 years.
