Victorian Plumbing is pushing into tiles. They are dominant in plumbing, bathrooms, etc, and are now excited they can do the same in tiles and have much deeper pockets than TPT. Pro Tiler is mainly tiling accessories that are easy to target, especially with the VIC trade app.

TPT are talking to Investor Meets - 28th November at 9am - it will be interesting.

I bought 10K last Friday while they are cheap, considering the Labour talk about building houses like there is no tomorrow. >>>>>>>>>

My main points being
TPT business is on a much sounder financial footing now than it has been for over 15 years.
ProTiler is doing very well having doubled sales since the initial acquisition.
Also there was some upside at the online business
TPT has managed to improve its gross margins in H1 and preserve cash

If the economy starts to recover as expected Top Tiles will do well

re - into administration

Yes they were, but TPT has chosen the best stores I hope, and most likely were profitable or very close to it as well.

The market is hard but times should be improving from now on as internet rates are coming down.

Recovering now, I think the market pretty much expected this. Going to be interesting to see the May presentation. Obviously we will get a new three or five year target and strategy but will the dividend remain intact? What about our Polish significant minority holder? That needs to be resolved

First fortnight in January , everywhere is quiet, not sure TPT any quieter than Travis Perkins or other merchants. Mind you it does seem VERY quiet.

Results don't make great reading, dividend uncovered now and bleak trading statement for new year. The upside I guess is that they are well placed to take market share from less strong competitors in this weak macro phase of the cycle.

Concrete evidence here for the Governor of the BOE

Housebuilders and building trade suppliers are out of favour. 2024 is going to be tougher than 2023. But this is a solid business gaining significant market share. Cash on the balance sheet, cash generative and excellent dividend. Patience required for a re-rating. A PE of 9 in this macro environment is about right

I'm looking for companies that give a good dividend and also look sound.
Topps has £19m cash pile.
Its assets are £39m bigger than its liabilities.

Revenue has grown every year since 2018.

Company expects the second half of year to be better - eg market getting better...

So company seems very sound...

So I've gone into Topps "hoping" to get the 7.6% dividend yield.

Do you think Topps will keep their dividend as it is?

Thanks
