04/2/2008 22:04 | Bruce knows how to invest to make money and so imho we should leave him to get on with things. If you don't like BR then you shouldn't be in this stock. I also own Starvest and Gledhow so I'm obviously biased. Gledhow are interesting and demonstrate how BR has the ability to surprise. The company has a capitalisation of only £0.6m and hasn't done anything much in the last couple of years, apart from liquidate assets. BR got more involved bearly 2 years ago. It's only got a market cap of £0.6m, but then you notice that it has pre-IPO investments (unquoted) now valued at £255,800 and a cost of £17,596 one of which was sold after the y/e for us$260,000 versus the £4k purchase cost. Awesome!! I spoke to Bruce about this company a while back and he wanted to play safe. It's clear that Starvest and Sunvest are the most active companies, but it is only a matter of time before Tiger and Gledhow get better deals. | topvest
04/2/2008 17:13 | curt3 TIR did take profits During the period under review the company realised profits of #333,934 on the sale of 2 million Ascent Resources plc shares. In July 2007, Tiger sold a further 3 million Ascent Resources plc shares realising a profit of #568,789 giving total profit to date of #902,723 realised on this holding. The Company continues to hold a substantial stake in this company and will monitor progress in the coming months. Tiger also realised a further profit of #211,511 from the sale of 170,100 Franconia Minerals Corp shares in July 2007. | dfgo
04/2/2008 16:55 | topvest - 3 Feb'08 - 08:40 - 1083 "Give them a break!!" Is asking questions somehow offensive? We should all be asking questions. And expecting answers. We are after all shareholders. | witteklip
04/2/2008 11:36 | "Give them a break ?" ..NO WAY!! this share price was over 4p two years ago. since then there has been a resources boom and we are sitting with our money inactive in the bank !! Is this a reource finance company or what ? They have had the oppertunity to take very hansome profits in AST by top slicing when it was 30p, and the same applies to NPE, RVD and Franconia but unfortuneately management was asleep and those profits have vanished like snow of a ditch. Iwish I had sold mine 2 years ago - I would have had at least some interest on my funds. The last meaningful transaction this co has done was the sale of Cambrian - if anyone can remember back that far. | curt3
03/2/2008 08:56 | agreed - best is yet to come | maxbubble
03/2/2008 08:40 | 12p and it was a warrant exercise. Please remember, before you trash the guy, that TIR bought their shares at 1p. AST is still a good company. Lots of negative vibe on this BB. The company hasn't done that much in recent times - agreed. But NAV has still increased fairly well. It's not as though we have lost our money. I've still doubled mine on the share price and triple or quadrupled versus NAV. Give them a break!! | topvest
03/2/2008 04:02 | I see this from 21/12/07 "LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Ascent Resources PLC said Tiger Resource Finance PLC has increased its stake in the company to 8.17 pct, or 24.64 mln shares, following an exercise of warrants. " What was Bruce thinking? What the warrant's exercise price? | witteklip
02/2/2008 13:23 | 'Fed up - but cannot bring myself to sell.' My sentiments too with this,Ambrian and a handfull of other small caps. | traderabc
02/2/2008 01:03 | i thought Ascent were finished now....almost broke | johndee
01/2/2008 21:25 | These have been hit by Ascent Resources losing value. I suspect they will bounce back though. STOP PRESS....THERE IS SIGN OF LIFE... TIR have £400k of shares at the float price. | topvest
25/1/2008 17:19 | I believe you are correct............ | johndee
25/1/2008 13:12 | The 2.87s were buys. After that distressed sale @ 2.375p the 500k @ 2.7p could be a buyback - we'll see. | skyship
23/1/2008 22:02 | might be soon time to buy again after selling at 4 pence......it always drops when it reaches 4 pence............... | johndee
23/1/2008 19:35 | skyship, thanks for the update. useful stuff for my investment club, being a shareholder. regards, GF. | glynnef
23/1/2008 16:12 | Skyship.... thanks for info .... hadn't looked in to this lot too closely as regards the directors options .... | don muang
23/1/2008 16:03 | Regretably one can't expect anything logical here! The portfolio has been in freefall, but the NAV on my model is still 5.31p, protected as it is by 2.57p of CASH. Why they're not supporting with buybacks is beyond me, as surely now is the time to be scooping in loose stock. Perhaps they'll get a chunk from the mms at the end of the week. Incidentally, no need for the Directors to personally increase holdings, as they simply grant it to themselves via stock options....sad, but true! | skyship
23/1/2008 12:27 | I'm aware the company have been carrying out transactions (buying) own shares .... but there hasn't been any recent Director Dealings ..... anyone any thoughts why the Directors aren't also taking advantage of the present 'low price'? | don muang
22/1/2008 16:27 | With a market correction + Cash B.R. is in a position to demonstrate why he has so far kept his powder dry. I guess he will still wait longer before he acts. Buying treasury stock is fine as long as it doesn't mop up too much cash. Cash is needed for aquisitions. | helicopter_bernanke
15/1/2008 12:21 | Valuation on this is irrelevant as it has been approx 40% below nav for the last 2 years. Problem is that there are no buyers apart from TIR itself mopping up disallusioned holders. no strategy here as holding c 2.5M in cash during a resources boom says little for managements involvement over last 2 years. | curt3
14/1/2008 19:32 | "Tiger Resource Finance plc ("Tiger" or the "Company") announces that on 4 January 2008, the Company purchased 2,250,000 Ordinary Shares of 1p each in the issued share capital of the Company ("Ordinary Shares") at a price of 3.40 pence per Ordinary Share. These Ordinary Shares are to be held as treasury stock." I make that 14.6% (?) Does anyone have a web-page with an up to the minute rolling valuation of the company including cash? Or a reasonably accurate, recent valuation? | witteklip

09/1/2008 09:55 | I have held a few for a while, Just thought it might be your cup of tea & worth a look if nothing else. | james 2
08/1/2008 19:07 | J2, No never. With a cap of £5m it's my sort of size. I will have a look this week. What's your interest in it? MJ | mjcrockett
08/1/2008 18:48 | Must be as you suggest mjc otherwise it would surely have fallen [although arguably was already undervalued versus NAV] given the stake in AST they hold. You ever looked at SOV ? | james 2 |
