Why would they not show the correct date ... having said that , my watch changes date and noon rather than midnight

Just ordered a new watch glass for me watch. Fed up looking at the big scratch right across my watch.

Also put a new battery in my beautiful really nice Seiko watch which actually has a movement in it taken from a lidl cheapy watch when the Seiko failed. Has a blanked out date window now, but this is Ok as my watches never show the right date anyway.

FFP would just have stung you for a coffee and snack in Harrods' Galvan Demoiselle at the Conservatory. Me, I would like afternoon tea, sandwiches and cakes in The Georgian at Harrods.

I really cannot remember where I used to stay in London...vaguely remember a really good Guest house near Kings Cross, but more often than not would stay with my Brother in Streatham. My company when I was on business would pay for us both to go for a nice meal as I was saving the cost of an Hotel.
