Take the DJ30 chart as an example right now, the candlesticks indicate bullish upward momentum forming eventhough the lower time-frames tell you otherwise except its not guaranteed but that's certainly what the chart is indicating!

...And a word of advice Paddy, you really need to set SLs before it does give you sleepless nights buddy and so what if you initially lose on a position but so long as your decision-making analysis is correct and compelling, it will invariably go back to what you origionally anticipated, I assure you!

...Your SLs should always be to minimise losses and maximise profits so as a starting point the ratio should be in the region of 2:1 and then aim higher as you become more comfortable!

...So please don't play the shark invested markets like a punter my dear friend because they'll rinse you and take you to the cleaners if you're not overly careful!

Look at the higher time-frames for an asset to derive an underlying trend, whether its bullish or bearish and then define where support and resistance truthfully exists as it normally tends to overcome any short-term noise with lower time-frames because candlesticks are highly predictive to assuming future price action but never ever get complacent with it because there is no such thing in the financial markets where anything is guaranteed but it gives you an edge!

Have a watch of this day traders technical methodology for day-trading Paddy and even you Imperialist because they way she's brings success is not only straight forward but far too many technical traders are way too complex with all their analysis these days so keep simple and i mean real simple and thats coming from someone that has an educational/commercial background in mathematics!

Normally the story with indices buddys as the ATs know exactly where most of the SLs reside and will try their upmost to trigger them but by any metric US is ridiculously overvalued now and I'm short across both and the Dax but losing on the Nikke225 which for whatever reason does the complete opposite to what one expects like yesterday!
