Easy one to double next year.

IFX Power (IXP) - do some research on it and see what you think.

Potential 10 bagger - Latin American Copper on OFEX.

There's plenty of potential 3,4 or 5-baggers around but the only ones I can think of with 10 bagger potential (IF ALL GOES WELL!) are

Motion Media
European Diamonds
Worthington Group (becoming a shell)
Anglo-Welsh (becoming a shell)
Lionheart (best shell on the LSE?!)

If only one comes off as hoped and the other 4 go bust you'll still double your money!

For gods sake, don't take my word for it! DYOR!

If the target is for ten-baggers within 12 months (in 2002), I probably don't have any, in the current markets you would have to be lucky to achieve that IMO, but picking a few which might, say, quadruple shouldn't be out of the question.

So after all that preamble, I have just three possible 4-baggers for 2002, which are :-
1. Kenmare Resources/KMR (planning to develop a titanium mining resource in Mozambique, just waiting for offtake agreements/pre-funding),
2. Oxford BioMedica/OXB (2 very promising gene therapy cancer treatments in Phase II, plus many other exciting developments in the pipeline, e.g. potential for nerve repair/Parkinsons disease treatment possibilities), and finally :-
3. Proteome Sciences/PRM (literally revolutionary/leading-edge mRNA repair technology via their US subsidiary Intronn, e.g. potential to treat genetic disorders such as cystic fibrosis and haemophilia, plus protein markers for detecting CJD, stroke diagnosis, organ rejection etc). All fairly high-risk, but the downside on all three is looking limited at current prices. F&B.

I think you are all deluding yourself with most of the shares mentioned above, more likely many of those will go bust - they really are dodgy - this is 2001/1 not 1999! We should all be looking for and be grateful for shares that go up 20% not picking these crummy half penny stocks!

humbugg:Probably my mistake.Of course I don't expect the stock to reach a tenner or anything like it.Possibly £2 in the mid-term. I was unaware that the term '10 baggers'meant reaching £10 ;I translated it as meaning ten winners. Sorry for the confusion. I bought at 92p--quite a reasonable entry point, don't you think? Boc.

bocadillo,

How on earth can you see OML becoming a 10 bagger???? madness. Yes i agree its good value, i made a purchase this morning, but going to £9 is complete fantasy.
I am hoping for £1.50ish over the next 12 months.

As for 10 baggers, i dont have one. I might have a 5 bagger AUY, time will tell.

Oh I meant to add, I dont expect this company to be a 10 bagger in one year
but having researched it I hope it will do well over a reasonable period of time. I leave you to work out the potential gain over time equation, thats not
for me to say !

onetomany: Old Mutual is at bargain levels now as we approach the end of the year. The stock has two main problems, neither of its own making: the weakness of the Rand, and Mugabe's Zimbabwe. With any luck, both can be sorted in the new year.Rarely do we see a FTSE stock ,of this size and good management,at such oversold levels. P/E of only 6,as well!!

May I suggest people research Bioprogress on the excellent
website www.bioprogress.com
The site includes a list of brokers through which the
stock can bought.

Feel free to join the various people on the Bioprogress thread
on this site and ask questions if you wish.

Ultimately the decision is yours !

I have four contributions to make – so I am afraid this post is quite long – but I hope will be rewarding.

1st . Proteome, PRM, 63p to buy, which two other posters have mentioned. 10 bagger in from 1 to 3 years – and then, possibly, much more. Some have compared it as the Microsoft of 4 bit programming – only better quality programming.

2nd. Minmet, MNT, 14p to buy, hated and loved on the BBs. At the AGM last April the Chairman gave a “conservative” estimate of the assets that they might well have on the first 8 of 69 sites, at $2.2b, with gold at $270. This gives an asset value [not share price] of over £3 per share. If one doesn’t trust the chairman – then don’t buy – but if one does . . . . Time range from 1 to 3 years.

3rd. Celtic Resources. CER, 10p to buy. A CEO statement based – but this time an interview – so perhaps not so reliable. At the time the market cap was £14m [now £10m]. He said he expects to be “north of $300m” within three years, say £200m.[using $250 per oz]. “We don’t really focus on exploration because we already have our assets”. Their impressive list of resources is adequate to achieve the three year targets – and progressively more ambitious plans for up to 20 years.

4th. Southernera Resources, SUF [Toronto], about C$2.80 to buy. Some very promising diamond mines [one is just starting a new JV, with De Beers, SUF are operator]. But most attractive is 70.4% of a PGM mine in South Africa, producing in August 2001 [partial] and fully by 2003. Expected to ramp up rapidly to 500k oz/year. Most PGM producers are valued at $2,000 per oz of annual production. This gives a pit value of $1b – or $700m to SUF; or $23 or C$35 per share. Some share dilution might occur. Expected onto AIM within a year. I research via www.stockhouse.ca. Time from 3 to 5 years.

Agricola Resouces - market cap of 2 mil at present yet could be realising profits in excess of their market cap in a year. They are also looking to spin off their exploration arm later this year.
Very early stage company. Currently raising funds through private placing that will see them well on the path to acheiving their goals.
