It is good to see TEK rising in recent days but it still has a long way to go to get anywhere near the value of its assets. This is best illustrated by looking at the value today of TEK’s 69% holding in SALT, which is just over £31 million.
Now look at the current market cap of TEK, which is £20.5 million.
TEK would have to rise 50% just to reflect the value of it holding in SALT.
Every other asset is in for free.

buywell3 missed France from the list of countries, plus India ,Paraguay and South Africa -- or was it google ?

AI Overview

France has implemented several measures to reduce salt in food,

Maximum salt targets: France has set maximum salt targets for certain foods, including:

Common breads: Less than 1.5 grams of salt per 100 grams as of July 2022

Wholemeal breads or cereals: 3 grams of salt per 100 grams as of October 2023

Sandwich breads: 2 grams of salt per 100 grams as of October 2023

School meals: France has restrictions on salt in school meals

Salt reduction in catering: Salt sachet volumes in catering have been reduced from 1 gram to 0.5 grams per sachet

Salt reduction in restaurants: Saltshakers have been removed from tables in restaurants

Food manufacturers: Food manufacturers, including independent bakeries and the flour industry, have committed to salt reduction

South Africa: Have mandated targets for the leading sources of salt in their populations' diets, including bread, meat, soups, snack foods, and canned foods

Paraguay: Has mandated targets primarily for bread products

India: Has committed to achieving a 30 per cent reduction in salt intake by 2025

=========================================

From SALT thread

A Google AI search asking the Question

Which governments have mandated salt reduction targets in foods ?

AI Overview

Many governments have mandated or voluntarily set salt reduction targets for foods, including:

Argentina: Has mandated targets for the leading sources of salt in the population's diet, such as bread, meat, soups, snack foods, and canned foods

Belgium: Has mandated targets for bread products

Bulgaria: Has mandated targets for bread, cheese, meat products, and lutenica

Greece: Has mandated targets for bread and tomato products

Hungary: Has mandated targets for bread

Netherlands: Has mandated targets for bread

Paraguay: Has mandated targets for bread

Portugal: Has mandated targets for bread

====================================

buywell conclusion

1. Bread seems to be the number one choice by governments to have a mandated salt reduction target imposed upon it

2. Several countries have already seen the light and imposed such madated salt reduction targets upon bread which should encourage other countries to follow

3. Smaller salt crystals have been shown to work in bread in the UK some years ago --- buywell discussed this at length in the TEK thread over a year ago. The company concerned used salt crystals many times bigger than MicroSalt crystals and achieved Sodium reduction numbers in the order of 15% ish (from memory )

4. Having established that smaller sized salt crystals reduced Sodium in bread , logic dictates that even smaller sized salt crystals like MicroSalt will reduce Sodium content in bread by a larger percentage

5. The UK Government at prsent have no mandated salt reduction targets --- perhaps bread will become their first one , after all bread is the staff of life and the majority of humans consume it

PS

AI Overview

The UK Nottingham-based company that produced smaller sized salt crystals often used in bread making is "Eminate," a spin-off company from the University of Nottingham; their product is called "SODA-LO® Salt Microspheres," which are essentially tiny salt crystals designed to significantly reduce the amount of sodium needed while maintaining taste in food products like bread.

SODA-LO® Extra Fine M

Average particle size of 20-30 microns provides an excellent distribution in a food matrix for high sodium reduction. It can also be used as a saltiness booster for tailor made reduction.

AI Overview

MicroSalt crystals are between 0.2 and 0.6 microns in size. This makes them 100 times smaller than regular salt crystals.

MicroSalt is a salt product that uses a patented process to reduce the size of salt particles.

-------------- Salt consumption directly linked to Obesity --------------

Senior Lawmakers Urge U.K. To Ban Junk Food Ads, Introduce Salt Tax

Oct 28th 2024

============================================

66% of the UK population is overweight and over 30% is obese

No wonder hospitals are overcrowded, waiting lists are getting longer , and running the NHS is costing ever more cash.

===========================================

Asking AI Google a few simple questions gives these results

Qu 1.

Is salt linked with obesity ?

Answer

AI Overview

Yes, a high salt intake is linked to obesity:

Long-term effects
Long-term consumption of a high-salt diet is associated with an increased risk of obesity, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome.

Short-term effects
Even short-term consumption of a high-salt diet can reduce insulin sensitivity.

Independent risk factor
A 1-gram increase in salt intake per day is associated with a 26% increase in the risk of obesity.

Qu 2.

What is insulin resistance ?

Answer

AI Overview

Insulin resistance occurs when your body's cells don't respond properly to insulin, a hormone that helps convert blood sugar into energy:

Here's what happens with insulin resistance:

Blood sugar levels rise: When you eat food, your blood sugar levels increase.
Pancreas releases insulin: Your pancreas releases insulin to help move blood sugar into your cells.

Cells stop responding: Over time, your cells become less responsive to insulin.

Pancreas releases more insulin: Your pancreas continues to release more insulin to compensate, but eventually it can't keep up.

Blood sugar levels remain high: Your blood sugar levels remain high, which can lead to prediabetes or diabetes.

Insulin resistance can be temporary or chronic, and it's often asymptomatic. It can be detected during a routine blood test or health exam, and may be indicated by certain signs, such as:

A waistline over 40 inches for men or 35 inches for women

Skin tags or dark patches of skin called acanthosis nigricans

High blood pressure

High fasting glucose levels

High A1C levels

High fasting triglyceride levels

Low HDL cholesterol levels

Qu 3.

What is metabolic syndrome ?

Answer

AI Overview

Metabolic syndrome is a group of risk factors that increase the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke:

Obesity
Excess fat around the waist, also known as abdominal obesity or an "apple shape"

High blood pressure
A reading of 130/85 mm/Hg or higher, or taking medication to treat high blood pressure

High blood sugar
A fasting blood sugar reading of 100 mg/dL or higher, or taking medication to treat high blood sugar

High triglycerides
A reading of 150 mg/dL or greater, or taking medication to treat high triglycerides

Low HDL cholesterol
A reading of less than 40 mg/dL for men, or less than 50 mg/dL for women

A person is diagnosed with metabolic syndrome if they have at least three of these risk factors. The more risk factors a person has, the higher their risk of developing health problems.
Metabolic syndrome can be caused by a combination of factors, including:

Being overweight or obese

An inactive lifestyle

Insulin resistance, which is when the body can't use insulin properly

Conclusions:

If the Labour government is serious about helping the peoples health by getting the NHS into a fit for purpose state
5g of salt per person per day MAX is what we should be aiming at

Because 5g of Salt equates to close on 2,000 mg of sodium

Then the UK Government AND other Governments should :

1) Take action to make food manufacturers reduce the salt(sodium), in foods by imposing a scaled taxation based upon 125 mg Sodium per 100g food serving

ie Zero tax on foods below 125mg sodium per 100g serving size

why ?

Google

AI Overview

According to most nutrition guidelines, a "low sodium" food contains less than 120mg of sodium per 100g, so this can be considered a rough average for the lower end of sodium content in food; however, the actual average sodium content per 100g of food varies greatly depending on the food type, with processed foods typically having much higher sodium levels than whole foods.

Per standard 100g serving :

126 to 150mg sodium should be scale 1 tax solid foods

151 to 175mg sodium should be scale 2 tax solid foods ----- and so on

-------------------------------------

Then we have confectionary like chocolate and sweets

Then we have liquids and various soups , beverages , fizzy drinks and semi liquids like ice creams

Most of these also contain sodium --- because salt acts as a preservative and prolongs shelf life

None the less --- salt taxes need to be applied

So

2)

Salt (Sodium) levels need to be set in a similar fashion to

Confectionary products
Drinks
Soups
Ice cream
Yoghurt
Butter
Margerine
Cheese

And ALL other consumables

Remember

The average human consumes around 2,000g of food per day

AI Overview

The average human eats between three and five pounds of food per day. However, the amount of food eaten can vary depending on age, race, Hispanic origin, and family income.

The average human drinks around 3 litres of liquid per day

AI Overview

The average person consumes between 11.5 and 15.5 cups of fluids per day, depending on gender:
Gender

Average daily fluid intake
Men
15.5 cups (3.7 litres)

Women
11.5 cups (2.7 litres)

Yesterday's SALT RNS should be read and thought about by all TEK holders. At last we have proper VALIDATION from one of the largest snack food companies in the world. This is a phased approach - we all know the world needs to reduce salt consumption and to date all low salt products contain other nastiest and an aftertaste. Analogous to sugar substitutes.Who knows where SALT can go - I am extremely positive following this news. I know from my experience in a different industries that when an opinion leader moves, it makes it much easier for others to follow. TEK owns about 2/3 of SALT, so good luck to you all.

------------- MicroSalt News -----------------

One of the worlds largest food and drink manufacturers is now going to use MicroSalt in three of its products

IMO this equates to circa 2,000,000 pounds of MicroSalt per year

Plus another major food producer has placed a first decent sized order which IMO is to carry out a major trial using MicroSalt so as to ascertain customer feedback -- which is what the first big client did

So there is every chance that the second big client in 2025 will follow the same pattern as the first big client and roll out MicroSalt use to other products by the end of 2025

Then we have a Canadian based client , probably McC------ , that will be using MicroSalt in one of its products to reduce sodium

This should IMO translate to further large orders by the end of 2025

--- MicroSalt could soon benefit from UK Government Salt actions --------

Oct 24th 2024

The House of Lords Food, Diet and Obesity Committee demands that the Government should develop a comprehensive, integrated long-term new strategy to fix our food system, underpinned by a new legislative framework.

This is the key conclusion of the Committee’s report, ‘Recipe for health: a plan to fix our broken food system’.

Key recommendations :

Introduce a salt and sugar reformulation tax on food manufacturers, building on the success of the Soft Drinks Industry Levy.
The Government should consider how to use the revenue to make healthier food cheaper, particularly for people living with food insecurity.

====== Military Drones on land , in the air , on the sea , and under it ======

US Admiral Franchetti said :

Chief of Naval Operations Discusses Navigation Plan 2024

September 20th 2024

“I’m confident that the future of our Navy is going to be a mix of conventionally manned platforms with unmanned and autonomous platforms all teamed together, so these are all the building blocks that we need to take right now to be able to get there.”

Her plan also includes seven, core fleet readiness targets under Project 33, a reference to Franchetti serving as the 33rd CNO.

Those targets include:

Ready the force by eliminating ship, submarine and aircraft maintenance delays

Scale robotic and autonomous systems to integrate more platforms at speed

Create the command centers our fleets need to win on a distributed battlefield

Recruit and retain the force we need to get more players on the field

Deliver a quality of service commensurate with the sacrifices of our sailors

Train for combat as we plan to fight, in the real world and virtually

Restore the critical infrastructure that sustains and projects the fight from shore

----------------------------------------------

Whilst the above is happening in America

In the UK :

The British Royal Navy is making similar technological advances towards expanding the use of drones in their fleets with testing being conducted with airborne, surface, and underwater uncrewed vehicles.

An uncrewed vessel has been operational in the Persian Gulf for more than a year conducting mine sweeping operations.

It is a ship with the ability to function autonomously (using a pre-programmed mission) or from a remote-control centre to detect explosives on the seabed from a side-scan sonar.

It can also notify troops on land or at sea of her whereabouts.

---- Military applications/control of drones ( air and land ) from remote places ----

Recent events have highlighted the importance of drones in the air

Being able to control such drones from afar by the use of LEO and GEO satellites is going to be key

why ?

Because local control of such drones , eg with the operator being 10 to 20 km away , leaves such operators vulnerable .

and

Having ultra secure and encrypted satellite communications means less chance of mission failures

-------------------------------

Tekcapital have said this;

2. In-vehicle equipment

-- For vehicle location, a GPS device in autonomous vehicles, with RTK capabilities for precise location.

-- For remote teleoperation:
GUIDENT RMCC communication in-vehicle equipment.

Public/Private/Military mobile 5G/4G/LTE wireless network.

---------------------------

Guident will soon report upon the success of their SaaS using a LEO satellite

Such a LEO satellite network covering the entire planet ---- would make latency times from remote control operator to drone , of around 20 mSec and thus the primary connectivity choice

A higher GEO satellite would become the second connectivity choice , with latency of around 100 mSec

-------------------------------------

Ground based drones are IMO about to make major impacts very soon , as have air based drones

--------------------------------------

Guident RMCC's are now developing new operator hardware to control and monitor drones

Guident Corp. ("Guident") & X Reality Factory SL ("XRF") Execute Strategic Partnership

Tekcapital Plc (AIM: TEK), the UK intellectual property investment group focused on transforming university technologies into valuable products that can improve people's lives, is pleased to announce that Guident Corp. ("Guident") and X Reality Factory SL ("XRF") have entered into a strategic partnership to integrate XRF's cutting-edge solution with Guident's Remote Monitor and Control Center (RMCC) platform.

This partnership combines XRF's advanced extended reality (XR) software with Guident's RMCC software stack, transforming real-time monitoring into a fully immersive virtual command centre. This enables the visualization of autonomous robots and autonomous vehicles (AV) fleet location, health metrics, and other key performance indicators from anywhere.

The virtual command centre leverages XR technologies, including Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality. A 3D digital twin model is created for the fixed routes, their environments, and each autonomous vehicle in the fleet, accurately reflecting the operational design domain.

By merging these technologies, Guident will be able to provide comprehensive situational awareness, enabling remote, immediate, and effective responses to various scenarios. These immersive tools are ideal for monitoring AV fleets, simulation, testing, and staff training.

In training mode, the platform transforms into an interactive learning environment, offering simulations to practice and refine various scenarios, including emergency response skills. With customizable modules, this solution ensures effective and targeted training.

Guident plans to launch an integrated XRF immersive extended reality solution with their RMCC software to customers in North America in H2 2024.
