If there is a specific reason for the fall, I'd put it down to any recession being linked to consumers being stretched, which could impact TIG's business. However this is a small cap so trying to put reasons behind moves is something of a fools errand.
Personally I think the gyrations over the last few days are just a hissy fit after a good run, and we'll see stablisation quickly...and Asian markets are having a positive Tues. |
Has the judgement against Google any influence here? |
Master Investor-For such a long time I have been boring readers with my description of this business as being a 'money machine' well looking at those analyst views continues to confirm my theory. |
Question is do I believe enough to add to my biggest holding? maybe wait till tomorrow AT. had a good recovery so not everyone has lost their nerve |
Not quite sure why TIG should be hit so hard today...not as if it is overvalued. |
Beginning of wave 3 (of 5) ? |
Will someone bomb the bid again today right on the close to distort the picture?
16:35 - The answer is NO. The new high close looks reasonably supported and is particularly creditable on a generally poor day for the market. |
Most of the morning it was 4-6p down. |
What was the correction/profit taking this AM?I can't find a news release from TIG |
Strong sign of demand this pm after a correction/profit taking this am, following yesterdays big move. |
It's the anticipation, I think. |
It cannot be a news leak as it would just be too brazen surely ?? |
Also breaks into the top list of gainers on the trading exchange for today |
no plenty of us out there. Somethings brewing, a bid ? |
Any particular news around this rise toda? I can't find anything |
Thought I was alone watching this! |
Yes, surprised that they havent announced another acquisition recently...perhaps one will come before now at the 12th. The continued absence of the buyback suggests they at least have their eyes on other targets (which I'm fine with given that they're applying more price discipline than a couple years ago) |
Interims will be on Monday (a good sign!) 12th August, with an Investor Meet too:
The Q1 trading statement bodes well for at least being in line with expectations of 28.5c EPS this year:
"The Directors remain confident in the Group's strategic investments in product innovation, vertical integration, and international expansion. These initiatives have positioned the Group for success. Given these strong foundations, the Directors are confident that the Group will meet market expectations for the full year." |
Yes, they generate something like $1m per week so debt should be down quite a bit.
Still wonder whether they're holding back on a buyback as they have more M&A in their sights (which, as long as its sensibly priced and not financed with equity, I'm ok with) |
Good point Riv, I would also expect to see debt dropping as we have no share buybacks currently, and that is a key indicator for many investors. |
Indeed. Certainly short/medium-term I'd expect TIG's Online Marketing division to be doing rather well from this last Q2 onwards given:
- Olympics - Euros (footie) - US elections - UK election |
AgreeZoom out a little and look at the bigger picture |
Share prices shown are typically the last traded price I believe, rather than bid or offer.
In terms of the related question about bid/offer spreads, agree with thebears1 that you can usually trade within them
Relating that to TIG or other companies of equivalent size, worth not falling into the trap of focussing on every penny and missing out as a result. If you're investing here, you'd generally be looking for sizeable gains such that +/- a couple pence on entry doesnt make a difference. Contrast that with buying the FTSE say where saving 0.5% on fees does make a difference to your returns |
