Looks like a pretty good statement to me and good "non-guidance" too. Nice to see the dividend maintained.

"While the uncertainties of COVID-19 mean we will not be providing formal guidance, based on current trends we would expect to deliver stable Headline EBITDA year on year, after assuming a c.£15m COVID-19 impact. We also expect strong cash conversion and will therefore be maintaining the dividend at 2.5p"

Very solid results (at a glance). How much longer will they be independent?

Results (and perhaps more importantly outlook comments) on Thursday will probably be a catalyst for a move one way or the other. It has been a nice move up from around 80 to not far off 100, so hopefully it will power on up beyond 100 on good news rather than crash back down again on disappointing news.

When is the effin woman in charge going to start producing shareholder value here, so far she simply huffs and puffs about statistics and positive metrics, I want to see real returns for shareholders, the history off this company has been a declining valuation against supposedly increasing penetration. If it was about a relationship the two parties would have split ages ago. Harrison needs to deliver, the comparisons with Harding are starting to become evident.

Noting:-

1. The lowest Disclosed Short Positions since 2015
2. Improving broker sentiment.
3. Greatly improving OFCOM stats about customer complaints.
4. 30% sector increase in Broadband volumes since lockdown
5. 50% increase in landline traffic since lockdown.
6. Great increase in paid-for entertainment add-ons and subscriptions such as Disney+ and Netflix
7. Strong sector feedback from Vodafone with buoyant outlook which held dividend
8. Significant Talktalk cost-savings by relocating to Salford Quays as well as now being optimally located to benefit from the Northern Powerhouse government-lead business initiatives.
9. Strengthened balance sheet by bond issuance, equity raisings and £200million sale of FibreNation.
10.TalkTalk appointed as Strategic Partner in the provison of broadband service by CityFibre with plans to reach 8 million premises.
11. Increased sector M&A with merger of O2 and Virgin Media which heaps pressure on other major players such as Vodafone to beef up

It appears to me that Talktalk is well-placed as a likley beneficiary of the dramatic ongoing increase in and further reliance upon broadband services.

There should be no reason in my view why TalkTalk share price shouldn't rapidly retest the 120p levels achieved before the Covid-crisis and go higher.

Full year results due on 11th. June but would not surprise me if there was significant strength in share price on the run-up to that date.

Well I never!

"The most improved broadband service was offered by TalkTalk. It had 210 complaints per 100,000 customers in 2018, but this fell to 86 in 2019."

From an e-mail from TalkTalk today:

An update from Tristia Harrison CEO.
Dear Mr XYZ,

As the UK and rest of the world slowly begins to emerge from such unprecedented circumstances, I'm pleased to let you know that we are gradually and safely increasing our customer service capacity once more. I want to thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. This will allow us to respond to more queries via our Live Chat channel and over the phone, importantly reducing call waiting times and ensuring faster responses through all our channels.

We are all using the internet more than ever ‐ to work, shop, learn, keep entertained and stay connected; with Netflix, Amazon, and online gaming services proving to be the most popular online destinations. And while this means that overall usage of our network has increased by 30%, we would like to reassure you that our network has continued to perform well and deliver an internet connection you can rely on. Just this week, data from the industry regulator Ofcom revealed that on average over any given 24 hour period we have the fastest average download speeds on both our Faster Fibre and Superfast Fibre products versus BT, Sky, Plusnet and Vodafone equivalents to those products*.

A good sign. A positive indicator.

We now have the smallest percentage of Disclosed Short Positions in TalkTalk for more than six years. Peaking in both early 2015 and again in late 2016 at near 5%.

Having started the 2020 year near 2%, Current Disclosed Shorts are now a mere 0.74%.

50% increase in TalkTalk landline traffic during recent lock-down.

Latest OFCOM stats reveal a sequential and dramatic reduction in numbers of broadband complaints against TalkTalk in each of the four quarters of 2019.

This is a glowing testament to the ongoing success of TalkTalk's strategy to improve all aspects of customer service/experience.

2. After behemoth Vodafone maintains dividend, today the mighty Deutsche Telekom also stands by its dividend and confirms that the business is doing very well.

Both these giants sticking by dividend payouts and giving upbeat Outlooks bodes very well for the sector.

Strong evidence that discretionary consumer spend is increasing on home broadband and that work-at-home requirements are also pushing increasing spend in the direction of broadband providers.

The broadband sector is strong and a clear beneficiary of tough and unprecedented times.

I guess today may likely mark the beginning of the long-awaited eventual pay-day that Tosca had long been expecting/hoping for with their massive near 30% stake.

With O2 and virginmedia merging, this has to be a bid target for Vodafone. Will do some research over the weekend to maybe take a holding position.

Interesting article for The Daily Mail published late last night headed " Vodafone could gatecrash O2-Virgin Media merger or face being left without a foothold in UK broadband".

The article writes the following:

" AND SHOULD THE O2-VIRGIN MEDIA TAKEOVER GO AHEAD, THEY (HSBC) SAID BUDGET BROADBAND PROVIDER TALKTALK AND ITS 4.3M CUSTOMERS MIGHT BECOME A TAKEOVER TARGET FOR VODAFONE ......."

If you like small telecoms, especially with businesses now adding extra services for staff to work from home, see £4m micro cap Toople (TOOP) headed up by ex Talk Talk man Andy Hollingworth and aiming to get 5% of the UK SME market in the next few years for a possible mcap of £400m to £500m.

TOOP could 100x bag from here.

No reason why this would drop to 25p, cash flow remains strong, soon to receive the £200mln for Cityfibre, easy to service debts, got their £500mln bond away prior to all this, so finances stable even if debt load large. Important thing is cash flow, cutting dividend no big deal here as relatively small in any case.

this will be down to 25 pence in due course.only a bid or talk of a bid may save it from going down to 25p.
