Data consumption doubling every 2 years with no end in sight.
There's no other sector like that. Buy any telecoms and sit back while your wealth rapidly increases.

Talk is the one to get for the best consolidation prospects but really they are all amazing investments atm imo.

Not my intention. The reason I’m pointing out the negatives is because others don’t want to. I have bought and sold TALK and have no position. I’ve been consistent on my view. You may not like it but there you go.

I’m not sure why you would think the uncertainty re div is out of the way. Last two announcements have been accompanied with dividend cuts and I wouldn’t be surprised if the next announcement was also the same way. In my view uncertainty’s are far from over

I always think people who crow the loudest about a correct call do so because they are very rare for them.

whatsup32, look at my post circa 210-220p I called a cautional sell. Now a lot of uncertainty is out the way, divi, ofcom, open reach, funding, partnerships etc. All talk have to do is get on with a realistic plan.

If you were going to invest, you'd want to buy AFTER those uncertainties. Thats how markets operate.

Please feel free to answer this.
Is it the one’s like me who have been negative about this company who has been correct or is it the one’s that have been positive.
Before you answer keep in mind this share is near it’s all time low , with two profits warning, two dividend cuts 20% share issue at near a pound.

The only way the share price is going to go up is if their is a buy out. That’s the only hope.

whatsup32, i think bt rose as the ofcom verdict was not s bad as expected, plus its been oversold, and Talk as it will benifit.

The ofcom ruling gives the smaller players a better chance. Still a lot of unknowns, but this is going to be the infrastructure for the future (nothing travels faster than light) so its a big deal imo for any player at this point.

the timing of the placing was no coincidence imo, near the bottom, and just before ofcom.

recent disclosures, over 50% in three hands.

A bit in today’s Times attributing Talk’s 5.2% rise yesterday down to a favourable Ofcom ruling (capping Openreach’s charges to rivals for full fibre network access, also to make poles and tunnels available).

Not sure if that was the reason . You may have noticed BT shot up approx 5% on the news so obviously the news is advantages to them . Vodafone also up so it was more a sector move . I think bookbrokers point is validated.
More then likely the news of Tosca building a stake (mentioned on this B.B. many times) maybe having the desired effect.
Although not popular it may be correct to point this fact out . The people that have been negative about this company have been right and the ones over the top optimistic wrong .
in time perhaps when the share price is in the low 50’s the Boss may want to buy the company back .
I think Tosca is just averaging. They got it all wrong so far

Some of you guys were not looking ahead, not connecting the dots imo. One of those dots, a big one, just became apperant, hence the rush to buy in to the fund raise, and buy in the open market.

TalkTalk short positions:-


14th. Jan 2018 - 3.7% declarable shorts

19th. Feb 2018 - 1% short



Declarable shorts have tumbled by almost 75% in a little more than a month.


This represents lowest short position in TalkTalk since 2013, having peaked at near 5% short in late 2016.



One can but wonder as to why the declarable shorts have closed so rapidly and so significantly in little more than a month from 3.7% to 1%.

WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE.


Something afoot here.

Tosca have gone from a 5.09% shareholding at end December 2017 to 12.1% as announced today.

A massive increase in just seven weeks. Don't forget that Tosca also supported the recent Placing which avoided dilution.

Tosca have been buying in the Open Market and additionally investing in the recent TalkTalk share placing.


Tosca are buying HEAVILY here at a time when the TalkTalk priced is depressed and also at the same time that Daisy are strongly rumoured/reported by The Ft to be on the verge of being put up for sale.

Something is cooking in my opinion.

Watch out for further action.

I am a daytrader, was long at 135ish, read the cards wrong that day - gamble on good news. Didn't happen, managed to reverse at 128, now closed. Good luck.

Mean’t to say cash raised was for the WRONG reasons, it should have been more and aimed at the debt level not for capital investment, they squandered the cash generated in the past on dividends, and shareholders have been extremely well-rewarded for paying those dividends out of the cash flow, at the expense of reducing the debt levels. Cash flow should be re-invested in the business not just handing it back to shareholders, and the dividend should have been cut to zero.

Have bought and sold Talk. It’s all negative at the moments. Feel free to read my previous posts going back over 2 months on talk. Short summary for you.

No USP
Renting line from competition to sell on.
Target customer ‘value customer’
Vodafone just started going after same value customer undercutting talk by 20%
Balance sheet week.
4 finance directors in 4 years ?
RBC Capital 1st February stated worries overdone price target £1.50
TALKTALK 8th February announces , profits and dividends cut . Raising £200m by issuing more shares.

I could go on.

Could see this at 50p before too long, what is there to prevent that apart from a takeover, but I do think that the cash raised was for the right reasons and sufficient to bring the debt under control!
