The price continues to fall on the back of a downgrade.

The dividend has been uncovered for a number of years and the interim results are expected to show a down turn in earnings

So what is a fair price for Talk Talk

The story on O2 evolving.

Telefonica reported to be considering an IPO for part of O2 prior to year end although selling a stake to an industry buyer is a possibility .

Shame it's being shorted so much. I expect they think many will think they can't be so great if they're being shorted or can't be great if they've gone down quite a bit (probably mainly due to the level of shorting) and of course i expect chartists to imagine all sorts of forever downward 'patterns' - all of which the shorting lot rely upon. With no news scheduled (the shorters are careful to check that, and to close in advance of any results etc, just to lower their risk) they seem to be on a winner because punters do react like that. Plenty of business to go round in telecoms, so i look foward to the next update or results to get the price going upwards again.

'Shares in telecommunications company TalkTalk decreased as it was downgraded by investment company Exane to 'underperform' from 'outperform' due to competition fears'.

Interims not until November, if share price still around these levels then and the IMS is positive these could quickly move upwards. I bought another tranche earlier this week, my average now 217p, so a bit underwater, but, as long as the dividend is held I'm happy to hold and wait on them recovering.

Blackrock has increased a couple of times since the post above and Eminence once. Now at 0.80% as of 30th August and 2.10% as of 31st August respectively:

2.10% Eminence
1.04% Odey
0.80% Blackrock
0.51% Citadel

3 players all increasing their short positions during August suggests there is something the longs ought to be concerned about - unless it is just a view from the shorts that they can push the shareprice around a bit in relatively light August volume with no news due for a while.

Well rather you than me, the first rule of shorting is to ensure no imminent news is possible.I have no idea whether anyone is looking to grab talk's business, but you must be insane if you don't see that as a real possibility. when the consequences are so bad if an event happens, then the possibility is best avoided. Of course you may be a penny a point merchant, so it may not apply. But I've seen real punters lose their home, swiftly followed by their wife and family just for that exact basic error.The financial talk are sound and strong and will be reflected in the next results, the last results mask the operational profitability due to the hack. Look at the results and dig under the surface, it's a great opportunity ATM.
