24/8/2016 08:07 | Xxxxxy - 'managed decline', it is wholesale slaughter here, CD. Has engineered the creation of a great business on the periphery of huge sectors, but now it should be dawning that it's time to factor a sale here before the debt overwhelms this co., what are they doing about it, by distributing large dividends, this is NOT a cash cow even if he does have a controlling stake, dividends should be cut, but then the share price and his holding will be crushed, for pete's sake though it needs to shore up its balance sheet! | bookbroker
23/8/2016 12:02 | Harding is out of her depth here, she has created very little value for shareholders except high payouts and a mountain debt! | bookbroker
23/8/2016 12:00 | I find it hard to believe that this co. can make a meaningful impact remaining independent, with the consolidation that has already occurred Dunstone should be looking for a get out, it's time for corporate action here! | bookbroker
19/8/2016 08:14 | Dissatisfied customers, will not make a successful business. This may be more a case of managed decline. 150p or bust. | xxxxxy
18/8/2016 13:53 | QP, I've just voted up your post 1868 above. One of the best posts you've made. well done! | pierre oreilly
18/8/2016 13:16 | book, they've just been steadily increasing divis for a few years to reflect the operational profitability of the company. Before the hack this was double the current price, so the yield at that price would be half it is now. Look at it that the divi is normal and the price is half what it should be, and will quickly return to after the next set of results, with the hack costs taken out. | pierre oreilly
18/8/2016 12:29 | Problem here is the outrageously high dividends this co. Pays out, time for Dunstone et al to take a check on things, the yield is simply too high for an underperformer, but then that is what is keeping this up, and he being the largest shareholder is more than likely squeezing as much out to pay for his expensive yachting excursions! | bookbroker
18/8/2016 11:57 | Hey, surprise surprise, every post, even on other boards, has suddenly got voted down! omg, what a wally you are qp. | pierre oreilly
18/8/2016 11:39 | Ah right dan, i see you're having a barny with QP on other threads, so decided to come here to give him (or more likely her) another good kicking. Oh well, I'm sure she'll search out some more of your interests and retaliate, and so it goes on. Tip, watch your back because before you know it QP will be voting down your every post, so there! | pierre oreilly
18/8/2016 11:33 | If you bothered to see what they threw into the last results, maybe you'd understand why all the ratios based on last year's profits look weak. Of course they were all one offs and normal service will be resumed at the next results. Why do you think there was such a high increase in the divi if future published profits weren't going to rise - just look at the operational stuff, not one off costs. I wouldn't touch hundreds of shares on the market, but i can't be bothered to go round each one's bb and inform holders of that. I expect they couldn't give a toss what i think. | pierre oreilly
18/8/2016 10:56 | Wouldn’t go anywhere near this one. Debt of £699M with a tiny operating profit of £38M. That’s a 1:18 profit to debt ratio! Yes, the divi yield is 6.76% but divi cover is a mini 0.64. The market has been really strong recently and Talktalk has gone nowhere – says it all really. | danpollard
12/8/2016 16:48 | Two substantial buys after the bell this evening: 16:41 - 12/08 Buy 253675 234.55p £594,994.7125 16:35 - 12/08 Buy 405211 234.00p £948,193.74 Looks like someone is confident | rathlindri
12/8/2016 08:23 | One is minded to remember John Malone's fascinating and informal recent interview with Bloomberg TV when he was talking a month ago at length on 7th. July about M&A in Europe. The plunging pound makes things look very cheap for the yankee dollar. " I personally think that the UK is going to be increasingly interesting". - JM This is the 7 minute Bloomberg interview. All very interesting. The last two minutes are not to be missed. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
12/8/2016 06:47 | Times today mentions Liberty as a possible bidder based on low £/$ | ayl30
12/8/2016 05:43 | Interesting times we live in. The Vodafone/TalkTalk bid rumours have been circulating for a couple of years. Might deliver a squeeze on the bottom-twitchers, aka shorters. If not Vodafone, this recent activity may draw other players into the market (even overseas). Maybe a bidding war (we can but wish😀)! | septimus quaid

11/8/2016 19:37 | There are a couple of pointers as to why vod may be interested in talk. Firstly, talk already piggyback the vod network, so they have had successful jvs before. Talk isn't an unknown quantity to vod. Secondly, vod are weak in home broadband where talk are strong, so a good fit there (for vod's quadplay ambitions). I don't know whether this is just a rumour or whether there's something in it, but certainly vod would get a bargain if they get it for anything less than last years peak of around 400p/share, if they are really after it. Vod probably value talk's unbustable security software too. | pierre oreilly
11/8/2016 16:19 | Been buying from 2.40 downwards, saw the spike so decided to sell my holding at 2.4766 18410 shares, so either a good move or a bad one. Lets see. Had a decent divi inbetween so a profit is a profit. | canaries2

05/8/2016 13:12 | Another noticeable decrease in average shares on loan reported by Euroclear for July. If this reduction since the February high is indicative of shorts closing then they appear to be managing to do so without any obvious sustained impact on share price. 70m is still a lot of shares to have to buy back though so if that is what it represents then there's still hope for a squeeze.
