30/10/2013 09:17 | Symphony asks government for exemption from proposed carrier bag levy By PRW Staff Posted 29 October 2013 Symphony Environmental has made the UK government an offer to accept for recycling all oxo-biodegradable and ordinary plastic shopping bags collected in England for recycling. In a letter to Defra on 27 September, Symphony said that if the Government decides to impose a levy on plastic carrier bags in England, and exempts oxo-biodegradable plastic from the levy, Symphony would accept for recycling all the oxo-biodegradable and conventional shopping bags which have been collected in England for recycling. Symphony has also written to European Plastics Converters (EuPC ) questioning its recent statement that 'oxo-bio' plastic cannot be safely recycled with other oil-based plastics. In a letter to Alexandre Dangis, managing director of EuPC in Brussels, on 23 September, Symphony challenged EuPC to produce credible scientific evidence in support of their position on oxo-biodegradable plastic. Symphony has also offered to conduct trials with any EuPC member to confirm that they could safely include materials containing oxo-biodegradable technology into their existing plastic waste stream. No reply to this offer has been received. Symphony's letter added: "There is an abundance of independent evidence that oxo-biodegradable plastics can be successfully recycled in the conventional plastic waste stream, most recently the research carried out by Dr Roediger at Stellenbosch. Not only do scientific reports demonstrate that your position is wrong, but all the oxo-biodegradable carrier bags collected by the Co-op and Tesco in the UK were seamlessly incorporated into the conventional plastic waste stream." It continued: "It is difficult to see how your position can benefit your members who are manufacturers of plastic products, as oxo-biodegradability offers them a defence against allegations that their products could lie or float around in the environment for many decades if not collected. There is nothing wrong with plastic, but it does need to be brought up to date." "We are also disturbed that EuPC insists on imitating the bio-based plastics industry by describing oxo-biodegradable plastic as 'oxo-fragmentable.'. If you understood the technology you would know that it does not just fragment, but converts at the end of its useful life in the presence of oxygen into a biodegradable material which is no longer a plastic. If you do not understand the technology you should not be making statements about it." | bbd2
26/10/2013 12:15 | News from the recent K-Show. Described as the best so far for Symphony, record attendance and a record value of orders placed. hxxp://www.packaging Every little helps, said the old man as he peed in the sea. | mirabilis2

23/10/2013 18:31 | Re:Mattjos 4238 Now that did make me laugh! 'curious how the resident bears/trolls go so quiet on an uptrend but, become more vocal on a downtrend. I'm sure Freud &/or Pavlov would have an explanation' Posted by the man who wasn't heard from after a post in mid May until the middle of August when the share price had started to rise ;-) Even Pavlov's dog would chuckle at that. | begorrah88
15/10/2013 10:17 | Mattjos I for one would like to see the share price at 50p, however I personally cannot live on hope having heard the same old story for the past 10 years, the "Jam tomorrow scenario". My area of interest has always been in the waste to energy sector, unfortunately I do not believe that the time spent on the RuPERT project will bear any significant income. I hope I am proved wrong. | robertnash2

08/10/2013 13:59 | It will be interesting to see if any news relating to new contracts etc will be released in conjunction with SYM attending the K Show (16th to 23rd October - so next week). I'm sure d2p will be a big focus for SYM following the signing with J&J. Looks like a number of the distributors will be attending. 06/10/2013 18:45 | the Janssen / SYM tie up could be quite transformational next year. i remember Sainsbury's teaming up with Microban in the 90's to add their product to plastics as a means of countering bacteria. Symphony's D2P has the potential to be adopted by a similar size retailer. Something looks to be afoot here judging by the actions of Cantor on the book recently. | mattjos
06/10/2013 17:12 | Who has liked it in the companies? Anyone know how significant this is? I have no idea whether eg Starbucks lets junior marketing people do this or the instruction comes down from eg purchasing director. Anyone know? | hounddog10
06/10/2013 17:10 | TB - The graph that yourself has posted seems to me to be rather vertical!! - 8.125 to 9.375 in a day (which is what I was refering to). Indeed immediately before that the price starts from c.7.8; - the news you to allude to is old and should already have been absorbed into the share price. The RNS on JJ is 6 weeks old; Mediplas is simply a presentation - all good stuff but this is part of the regular part of business for these early stage companies - granular news of eg a contract (or the prospect or rumoured prospect of it - or perhaps even knowing the fin details of the JJ contract) is what in my view would move the share price. As to Nomad responsibilities suggest you read below (point 2 on PSI). I still vividly remember JPMCaz telling me that their compliance dept disliked AiM v Main Market (even big & lucrative transactions - which at that stage were around) not because of the famed lack of regulation, but precisely the opposite - the responsibilies on the Nomad if they were doing their role properly ie to make sure PSI appropriately got out (JPMCaz would worry about this deeply - others perhaps somewhat less but the LSE has been cracking down on Nomad performance in recent years). I would be fairly sure share price are in conversation with SYM as to what is going on. Hopefully good news - my guess would be a new contract rather than stake building. Prob depends on what happens in the next couple of days ie does it carry up or fall back but lets see. AiM is an interesting market and we all take our chances. hxxp://www.aimzine.c | hounddog10
05/10/2013 16:29 | Afternoon hounddog10 Forcing Nomads and false markets-lol The chart is not vertical! The chart suggests the increased trading volume is down to the announcement below. At the present time we don't know the financial effect this will have on SYM but you would imagine it will be positive but actual value wise who knows.....hence the interest and increased trading activity since. 21st Aug 2013 Adding to the interest maybe the talk on 26th September at the Mediplas event: 2:00 PM - The impact of anti-microbial additives on plastic and the environment Radu Baciu, Technical Consultant, Symphony Environmental Ltd. | totally banjo
05/10/2013 15:06 | I have a bit to go before am back to break even. Most of my holding was back to the (very) old days when bought in at 20p+ but retrieved much of my losses as bought at 2/3p before SYM first turned a profit 5+ years or so ago. Was too greedy to take profits when more recently rose to 20p+. The chart is vertical and I would have thought the Nomad should force an announcement early next week as to what is going on ie announce some good news or comment on a false market. But as ever this is AiM. | hounddog10
04/10/2013 10:40 | I'm just enjoying the fact one of my holding is now in profit a very rare occurrence for SYM. | chrisgail
04/10/2013 09:51 | mmm wonder what is going on. Even though it seems to be on v thin volume (don't have L2 and rely on iii for trades/volume so can't easily see the buys and sells)SYM has risen much more than I expected. The half year results weren't that good. Having watched SYM for quite a number of years in the past this type of rise has often been the prelude to some positive announcement. | hounddog10
27/9/2013 09:14 | Great Britain explores energy business A delegation of six British companies seek to explore business opportunities in the energy sector in Mexico. The companies are the Shell Foundation, Enviromental Resources Management Ltd. (ERM), Intertek, Kingspan Wind, Symphony Environmental and Ultima Networks. Of these six companies two are already operating in Mexican territory (ERM and Intertek) with positive results. So positive that the four remaining companies see potential for investment in research and sustainable development projects in this market. The Shell Foundation dedicates itself to the manufacture of stoves for rural communities. Symphony Environmental makes biodegradable bags; Kingspan Wind makes wind turbines and Ultima Networks makes solar panels for rural schools. Meanwhile of the companies already in Mexico Environmental Resources Management (LTD) offers consulting services in environmental subjects and Intertek does laboratory research in environmental matters, such as compliance with Mexican and international norms and standards. John Pearson, Commercial Secretary of the Organization for Commerce and Investment of the United Kingdom, noted that the Mexican market is interesting and that there are business opportunities for British companies in the energy sector. The framework in which Great Britain's commercial mission will analyze investment projects in Mexico is the Green Expo which will be held the 25thto the 27 th of September in Mexico City. Pearson told Mexican Business Web that investment in renewable energy and environmental technology is relevant because the world is on a trajectory which cannot continue, since we consume too many resources and energy, which is why it is necessary to change how we act. For these reasons countries require efficient companies and investment in renewable energy technology. It is important to create a link between energy and cost among the population, since then they will appreciate its value and opt for renewable sources, maintained the Commercial Secretary of the Organization for Commerce and Investment of the United Kingdom. Currently Mexico and Great Britain are holding talks in order to strengthen and make more flexible investments in various productive sectors among which the renewable energy sector. Nonetheless, the investment plans continue, since between 2007 and July 2013 foreign direct investment from Britain to Mexico reached more than 3.5 billion dollars, representing 2.2% of the total during this period. 23/9/2013 00:38 | Staying around the current share price level is no bad thing at least until we gain more information from any updates/interest regarding d2p. SYM do appear to be getting their house in order and look to be moving forward with their product line but please be aware (investment wise) that sentiment can change very quickly and especially after the recent rise! If SYM get a good market for d2p then 20p+ would easily be achievable but in the mean time either trade wisely or do your own research and if positive then just wait.....is my advice. | totally banjo
22/9/2013 20:04 | Yes it has always moved quite quickly on interest and to be fair, that can be in both directions. A confirmed order for one of our new products would go down very well just now given the recent momentum. | bbd2 |
